-- Ohila and the Twelfth Doctor, Doctor Who: "Hell Bent"
Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we provide our commentary track for "Hell Bent", the twelfth episode of Doctor Who Series Nine from 2015, featuring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, Donald Sumpter as Lord President Rassilon, Maisie Williams as Ashildr, and the departure of Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald!
In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like Jesse watching Secret Invasion while he was supposed to be working, originally discussing "Hell Bent" back in Episode 048 from December 2015, the return of the anti-technology Gallifreyans living outside the Citadel, director Rachel Talalay returning for the upcoming special "The Star Beast", Donald Sumpter and Maisie Williams on Game of Thrones, Clare Higgins as Julia Cotton in the first two Hellraiser movies, why we're only watching "Hell Bent" and not the previous episode "Heaven Sent", Timothy Dalton being unavailable to reprise Rassilon, the great shot of the Doctor facing off against a huge gun mounted on the front of a fighter, the Doctor not being interested in the Time Lords until Rassilon shows up, the General and his troops siding with the Doctor over Rassilon, wondering what happened to Rassilon after he was exiled from Gallifrey, the Doctor's desperation to keep Clara alive after the events of "Face the Raven", the Doctor forcing the General to regenerate by shooting him, why the Doctor is still angry over Clara's death after spending 4.5 billion years inside the Confession Dial trap, the Doctor's casual revelation "Oh, it's Me", Ashildr's argument that the Doctor is the Hybrid, that awkward moment when Clara still doesn't have a pulse, the Twelfth Doctor getting a new Sonic Screwdriver to sell some toys, Clara getting her own TARDIS, new feedback from Dave Proctor and Sandi from Oregon, watching "The Krotons" in our next episode, bringing our podcast full circle with a Twelfth Doctor discussion, and more!
