"But you use your powers for evil!"
"Your evil is my good."
-- The Fourth Doctor and Sutekh, Doctor Who: "Pyramids of Mars"
Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back for another new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we regenerate our discussion of "Pyramids of Mars", the third serial from Doctor Who Season 13 in 1975, featuring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, and the first appearance of Gabriel Woolf as Sutekh!
In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like my hoping the Cleveland Guardians can somehow win the World Series, my first Next Stop Everywhere podcast from the Loft of Solitude, my springing for the new 6-Disc Super Deluxe release of the Police's Synchronicity album, trying something new with our "Regenerated" discussions of episodes we've already discussed nine or ten years ago, Jesse listening to our original 2014 discussion of "Pyramids of Mars" in Episode 015, Michael Sheard almost filming with every Doctor in the Classic Era, the story being originally written by Lewis Greifer, all of the stories in Season 13 being tributes to classic horror and science fiction films, Tom Baker not being happy that he had to wear the robot mummy costume, the popular "NOPE" GIF meme where the Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane quickly turn around in unison to walk out of a robot mummy's sight, Jesse's reaction to rewatching "Pyramids of Mars" again all these years later, "Pyramids" being a good story to try and hook someone on Classic Who, Sarah Jane calling out the Doctor for having a mid-life crisis at the age of 700, Sarah Jane being a really good shot with a rifle, "The Devil's Chord" homaging the scene in "Pyramids of Mars" where the Fourth Doctor shows Sarah Jane a desolate alternate 1980 where Sutekh wins, Lawrence Scarman trying to reach out to his Marcus, Sutekh being really fond of death, our favorite quotes of the episode, my Reverse the Reverse the Polarity segment, new listener feedback from Holly Mac, Jesse finally getting his wife Linda to podcast with him, the second encounter between Tom Baker's Fourth Doctor and Gabriel Woolf's Sutekh, and more!
