"Hey, Clara...You haven't let them blow up the planet, good job!"
-- The Eleventh Doctor to Clara Oswald, Doctor Who: "Nightmare in Silver"
Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we discuss "Nightmare in Silver", the twelfth episode from Doctor Who Series Seven in 2013, featuring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, Warwick Davis as Porridge, and the return of the Cybermen!
In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like trying to figure out who we're going to root for in the Super Bowl after our teams were knocked out of the playoffs, a Next Stop News Flash about Millie Gibson leaving Doctor Who in 2025 and being replaced by Varada Sethu, "Nightmare in Silver" being written by Neil Gaiman, legendary sci-fi movie actor Warwick Davis, Gaiman's "The Doctor's Wife" raising the bar way too high for "Nightmare in Silver", "Nightmare in Silver" lacking the sense of wonder from "The Doctor's Wife", Steven Moffat asking Gaiman to make the Cybermen "scary again", the reintroduction of the original series Cybermen, Doctor Who stealing Cybermen abilities back from Cybermen-ripoffs the Borg, Matt Smith joining the club of Doctor actors who played a dual role on the show, Jesse thinking Mr. Clever should've been played by someone else, Mr. Clever being similar to Batman villain Two-Face, the Eleventh Doctor bluffing Mr. Clever about being able to regenerate, Porridge's ludicrous title as Emperor, Captain Alice Ferrin looking for a chance to blow up the planet, wanting more exploration of Porridge as a character, Clara's reaction to suddenly being proposed marriage by Porridge, Angie Maitland pointing out the obvious that Porridge is the Emperor, hoping Target Books will release a Nightmare in Silver novel adaptation that expands the story, the Cybermites being the Cybermen's version of cockroaches, Webley being thankful for Artie's sandwich, not seeing the new Cybermen abilities like super-speed in later episodes, "Nightmare in Silver" not playing to Neil Gaiman's strengths, our favorite quotes of the episode, new feedback from Dave Proctor, Holly Mac and Sandi from Oregon, my calling out Jesse for not sending in Echo feedback in to The Fandom Zone Podcast, finishing up our "Welcome to Our Nightmare" trilogy of episodes with "Nightmare of Eden", and more!
