NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 288: "Trial of the Valeyard" Is Up!

"Tell you what, I’ll make it easy on you -- I confess. Yes, I stole a TARDIS! Yes, I ran away! Yes, I’ve meddled in the affairs of countless people on countless worlds, and sometimes the consequences of my meddling have been grave indeed! Guilty, guilty as charged! I did it! I’m to blame! Mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa!"
"Oh, for goodness sake…"
"And yet, I came back to Gallifrey, willingly, and saved the lot of you. Not once, but time and time again and believe me, that’s one of the few things I’ve done in my many lives that I’m really starting to regret!"
-- The Sixth Doctor and Inquisitor Darkel, Doctor Who: "Trial of the Valeyard"

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we're joined by special guest companion Rachel Frend to discuss "Trial of the Valeyard", the 2013 Doctor Who audio drama from Big Finish Productions, featuring Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor, and the return of Michael Jayston as the Valeyard and Lynda Bellingham as Inquisitor Darkel!

In this episode, Jesse, Rachel and I discuss things like Jesse doing more decorating in his new podcast recording studio, Rachel discussing "Trial of the Valeyard" on The Five-ish Fangirls Podcast, the Doctor not being the one on trial for once, the banter being reminiscent of a Kevin Smith or Aaron Sorkin story, Inquisitor Darkel's full name Darkelatraquisterastred, not being able to get rid of David Tennant, the Sixth Doctor returning to one of his least favorite places, Colin Baker chewing the scenery with this script, the Doctor's frustration with being forced to defend the Valeyard but not being told what he's accused of because it's classified, the Rani potentially returning as a man, the Sixth Doctor behaving like child refusing to eat tater tots, putting to rest any fan speculation that the Valeyard was a Watcher, the Sixth Doctor hating the Time Lords more than he hates the Valeyard, wondering how much of the Valeyard's origin story is the actual truth, the mystery of the Shadow Houses, Rassilon being a total dick, the Sixth Doctor finding a mad thirteenth incarnation of himself, wanting another meeting of the Sixth Doctor and the Valeyard from Big Finish, the lines in the script being tailored for Colin Baker's Doctor, our favorite quotes of the story, my Reverse the Polarity segment, new feedback from Holly Mac, my upcoming return to Gold Standard: The Oscars Podcast to discuss The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King with Rachel, Christine Peruski returning to discuss the return of the Ice Warriors, and more!
