"I can tell you something about this place. The boys around here call it 'The Black Lagoon' -- a paradise. Only they say nobody has ever come back to prove it."
-- Captain Lucas, Creature from the Black Lagoon
Hello again, movie fans! My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, we watch Creature from the Black Lagoon, the 1954 monster horror film directed by Jack Arnold, featuring Richard Carlson as Dr. David Reed, Julia Adams as Kay Lawrence, Richard Denning as Dr. Mark Williams, and the introduction of the Gill-man!
In this episode, Xan and I discuss things like Xan celebrating her birthday, how to recycle birthday candles for more birthdays, Jack Arnold directing episodes of Buck Rogers in teh 25th Century and Wonder Woman (1977), Xan's Creature from the Black Lagoon memorabilia, Dracula being a dick, the detailed Creature costume, white people invading the Creature's underwater house, Guillermo del Toro wanting to a Creature from the Black Lagoon remake and then turning his idea into the 2017 film The Shape of Water, Henry Mancini providing the score, our favorite TV themes, Creature originally being presented in 3D, not seeing side-boob in '50s movies, Xan naming a boat Rita, teasing the Creature by only showing its hand, knowing Kay Lawrence is smart because she has a ponytail, Graboids being a fantastic monster, hunting the Creature underwater with only three harpoons, Julia's cigarette litter, wondering if you get rufied by eating rufied fish, Kay's neverending supply of new outfits, the Creature being light-sensitive, new Drunk Mail from Christine Peruski, celebrating the 60th anniversary of Dr. No being released in the United States, Xan wanting to watch Never Say Never Again, Xan needing to be stopped from becoming a Loungefly bag collector, and more!
