DRUNK CINEMA 032: "Spaceballs" Is Up!

"So, Lone Starr...Now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb."
-- Dark Helmet, Spaceballs

Hello again, movie fans!  My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, we watch Spaceballsthe 1987 space opera comedy directed by Mel Brooks, featuring Bill Pullman as Lone Starr, John Candy as Barf, Daphne Zuniga as Princess Vespa, and Rick Moranis as Dark Helmet!

In this episode, Xan and I discuss things like Xan watching our movie from Independence, Ohio, Xan flipping the double-bird while shoving her butt in the camera, how we rank Spaceballs compared to other Mel Brooks films, Xan imprinting on To Be or Not to Be as a Mel Brooks fan, the greatness of Harvey Korman in Blazing Saddles, Bill Pullman in Ruthless People, SCTV veterans John Candy and Rick Moranis, Xan being fooled by the "Skroob" acronym, Xan's love of the movie Fatso starring Dom DeLuise, Sir John Hurt reprising his role of Kane in Alien, John Morris being Mel Brooks' go-to composer, Xan's internet service provider not providing during our previous attempt to record this episode, Mel Brooks not being afraid to play to the lowest common denominator, the Doublemint Twins, wondering why Barf continued to carry Vespa's empty trunk after dumping out her ginormous hair-dryer, Vespa wanting to know what love is and wanting Lone Starr to show her, why Mel Brooks gets to make black jokes in Blazing Saddles, Xan's most-quoted line from Spaceballs, Xan and I watching Batman (1989) together at the Ohio Theatre and doing synchronized Michael Keaton hand gestures, Xan wondering what the point is for building a ship to transform into Mega Maid, the chestburster alien singing and dancing to "Hello, My Baby" as Michigan J. Frog, some Twitter direct messages from Shalayne Johnson, the details on my upcoming story for DC Comics' DC's Terrors Through Time #1 Halloween anthology, Xan having such sights to show us in two weeks, and more!
