NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 241: "The Runaway Bride" Is Up!

"Question is, what did camouflaged robot mercenaries want with you? And how did you get inside the TARDIS? I don't know...What's your job?"
"I'm a secretary."
"Weird. I mean, you're not special, you're not powerful, you're not connected, you're not clever, you're not important..."
"This friend of yours. Just before she left, did she punch you in the face?"
-- The Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble, Doctor Who: "The Runaway Bride"

Hello again, everyone!  My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we're joined by special guest companion Christine Peruski to discuss "The Runaway Bride", the 2006 Doctor Who Christmas Special, featuring David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor, Sarah Parish as the Empress of the Racnoss, and introducing Catherine Tate as Donna Noble & Jacqueline King as Sylvia Noble!

In this episode, Jesse, Christine and I discuss things like Christine being the Mistress of Correction, the State of Texas moving one step closer to becoming the Republic of Gilead from The Handmaid's Tale, more of Jesse appreciating Catherine Tate as Donna Noble the second time around, Donna Noble being a Karen, "The Runaway Bride" showing us glimmers of Donna's potential as a companion, the Broadchurch Drinking Game with Doctor Who actors, "The Runaway Bride" being the first episode in the modern era to mention Gallifrey by name, "The Runaway Bride" originally being planned as a Series Two episode, the production team making fake banknotes for the ATM scene, David Tennant's then-girlfriend Sophia Myles filling in for Catherine Tate during the script readthrough, David Tennant's parents and family members appearing in a deleted scene, the Doctor having a hard time keeping up with Donna, the Doctor and Donna connecting during Donna's literal leap of faith, Jesse and I having friends and relatives enjoying our post-wedding afterparties without us, the return of the RoboForm Santas from "The Christmas Invasion", Lance planning on marrying Donna to get her loaded up on huon particles to hatch the Empress of the Racnoss' babies, the Doctor offering the Empress one last chance, the first glimpse of the Tenth Doctor being the Time Lord Victorious, Donna telling the Doctor he needs someone to travel with to stop him from time to time, the joy of watching something you've seen before with someone experiencing it for the first time, the Doctor's "bigger on the inside" pockets, our favorite quotes of the episode, my Reverse the Polarity segment, new feedback from Holly Mac & Dave Proctor, Christine's thoughts about the next Doctor, the Doctor being able to become more than just white dudes, all of us missing Xan Sprouse terribly on podcasts, my new kittens Desire and Delirium, and more!
