"The boy. Is he dead, too?"
"Who?"
"The boy -- Jason."
"Jason?"
"In the lake. The one... the one who attacked me. The one who pulled me underneath the water."
"Ma'am, we didn't find any boy."
"But... then he's still there."
-- Alice Hardy and Sgt. Tierney, Friday the 13th (1980)
Hello again, movie fans! My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, we watch Friday the 13th, the 1980 slasher film directed by Sean S. Cunningham, featuring Betsy Palmer as Pamela Voorhees, Adrienne King as Alice Hardy, Kevin Bacon as Jack Burrell, and Ari Lehman as Jason Voorhees!
This time, Xan and I discuss things like Xan getting over a big case of Stockholm Syndrome, my original plan for us to watch John Wick instead, watching Friday the 13th on Friday the 13th, Betsy Palmer agreeing to play Pamela Vorhees so she could buy a car, both of us preferring Friday the 13th Part II to the original, Kevin Bacon being the only person in this movie who had a decent movie career, Walt Gorney as Crazy Ralph, Xan's ranking of the first six Friday the 13th movies, the Friday the 13th franchise vs. the Halloween franchise, the depiction of 1958 as 1978, why we should never talk about the movie Soul Man, the current popularity of axe throwing, my hating the ending to The Blair Witch Project, action canoes with paddle-turning action, the absolutely useless life preserver, Xan's love of guys in 3/4-sleeve baseball shirts, the very unconvincing thunderstorm, Marcie's decent Katherine Hepburn impression, the point of Strip Monopoly, Flowers in the Attic being a terrible book, not wanting to live in a world without Mel Brooks, Pamela's issues with camp counselors having sex, Pamela and Alice mud wrestling, Xan's problem with the Friday the 13th franchise, my rereading The X-Files: Ground Zero by Kevin J. Anderson, new Drunk Mail from Christine Peruski, Aaron Case and Dave Proctor, my having problems with Superman III, and more!
