-- The Eleventh Doctor, Doctor Who: "Hide"
Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back for another new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we discuss "Hide", the ninth episode from Doctor Who Series 7 in 2013, featuring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, Dougray Scott as Professor Alec Palmer, and Jessica Raine as Emma Grayling!
In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like Jesse's wife picking up some interesting gummies in New England, the recent weirdness of our release schedule, picking "Hide" for Spooky Season, "Hide" giving the vibe of a 1970s Hammer horror film, my wondering if Alec Palmer was named after Alec Holland and Ray Palmer from DC Comics, Jessica Raine as Verity Lambert in An Adventure in Space and Time, writer Neil Cross being inspired by The Quatermass Experiment, original story plans for the pocket universe, "Hide" being Jenna Coleman's first filmed episode as Clara Oswald, what the "ghost" version of Hila is saying, the Doctor's secret motive of looking for Emma Grayling to learn about Clara, wondering how the TARDIS and Moya from Farscape would have to say to one another, wishing Jenna Coleman had another season with Matt Smith instead of Peter Capaldi, the Doctor's decision to go back and rescue the creature that just tried to kill him, Clara's argument with the TARDIS, the homage to Poltergeist, Professor Palmer and Emma Grayling being in love with one another but being too afraid to admit it, Palmer's reluctance to talk about his background as a spy, Emma trying to warn Clara about the Doctor, Matt Smith mispronouncing "Metebelis", the reveal that the "ghost" was a time-traveler, the Doctor and Clara's breezy high-five, our favorite quotes of the episode, my Reverse the Polarity segment, listener feedback from Dave Proctor, Sandi from Oregon, and Holly Mac, my upcoming story for DC Comics' anthology DC's Lex and the City #1, and more!
