NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 290: "The Green Death" Is Up!

"What's best for Global Chemicals is best for the world, is best for you."
"Such as a little touch of brainwashing?"
"Freedom from fear, freedom from pain..."
"...freedom from freedom."
-- Jocelyn Stevens and The Third Doctor, Doctor Who: "The Green Death"

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we discuss "The Green Death", the fifth serial from Doctor Who Season 10 in 2013, featuring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, Stewart Bevan as Professor Clifford Jones, and the departure of Katy Manning as Jo Grant!

In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like Jesse being eager to discuss The BOSS, Stewart Bevan voicing BOSS in the Torchwood Big Finish audio "The Green Life", producer Barry Letts and script editor Terrance Dicks being inspired for this story from an article in The Ecologist, Stewart Bevan and Katy Manning being engaged in real life during the recording, the giant maggot props being inflated condoms, actor Tony Adams being replaced by Roy Skelton, Katy Manning returning to the role of Jo in the 2010 Sarah Jane Adventures story "Death of the Doctor", Cliff Jones having similar traits with the Third Doctor, there being no hint of a romantic triangle, the beginning of the end of the UNIT TV family, the Doctor's conflicted emotions over Jo leaving UNIT to get married to Cliff, whether Jo and Cliff's 6-episode romance was believable, wondering why the Doctor went off to Metebelis III to retrieve a crystal, Jesse's love of the Brigadier as a character, Torchwood being a modern version of UNIT, the anti-authority Doctor being paired with an authority figure like the Brigadier, Sgt. Benton being scolded by the Doctor about how he talked to the giant maggots, the Brigadier being shocked that the fungus he ate tasted like roast beef, the giant maggots becoming a much more dangerous threat when they can fly, overlooking the bad special effects when watching classic Doctor Who, '70s computers that take up an entire room, why this story would be featured in West Virginia if set in America, Stevens being the one who takes out BOSS and not the Doctor, our favorite quotes of the story, my Reverse the Reverse the Polarity segment, new feedback from Sandi from Oregon and Holly Mac, our upcoming discussion of "Four to Doomsday", and more!
