NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 262: "Light the Flame" Is Up!

"If I actually use these instruments of death I’ve collected, it betrays them all. Everyone I ever was."
"You forget the Hand of Omega. You have struck at your enemies when you had no choice."
"I suppose...but only as a last resort."
"That is where we live now, in a universe with choice removed."
-- The War Doctor and Lithea, Doctor Who: "Light the Flame"

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we discuss "Light the Flame", the first audio drama from Big Finish Productions' Doctor Who: The War Doctor Begins -- Forged in Fire set from 2021, introducing Jonathon Carley as the War Doctor, Veronica Roberts as Ohila, and Adèle Anderson as Commodore Tamasan!

In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like Jesse and I being eager to watch the season finale of Moon Knight, Jesse's thoughts on the Doctor Who: Redacted podcast, why Jonathon Carley's War Doctor voice works as a younger version of the late Sir John Hurt's War Doctor, the Doctor Who: Lockdown webcast Doctors Assemble!, Chris Jarman in "The Curse of the Black Spot", getting to hear what happened after the Eighth Doctor regenerated into the War Doctor, the return of Ohila and the Sisterhood of Karn, the Doctor's reluctant adjustment into a warrior, Ohila using Lithea to bring the War Doctor out of his moodiness, the friction between the Sisterhood of Karn and the High Council of the Time Lords, the War Doctor not being comfortable in his own new skin, "Genesis of the Daleks" being the opening salvo in the Time War, the War Doctor being reluctant to take on the burden of what he needs to do, the Doctor at this point thinking he only has thirteen lives, the Doctor being a counter-culture icon on Gallifrey, Rassilon being a divisive figure that inspires loyalty and also fanaticism, the Time Lords believing the War Doctor could turn the tide of the Time War, Jesse's concern for the TARDIS after Sanmar wanting to turn the Old Girl into a Battle TARDIS, Sanmar going full Far Right Time Lord, Lithea calling out Sanmar as another horrible Time Lord, Sanmar killing Lithea without any regard for the relations between the Time Lords and the Sisterhood of Karn, Sanmar's real mission of stealing Karn's heart to take it back to Gallifrey under the guise of protection for Karn, Tamasan throwing Sanmar under the bus the very moment when the conspiracy against Karn was exposed, the War Doctor bluffing Ohila and Tamasan by threatening to sacrifice Karn to prevent it from falling into the hands of the Daleks, our favorite quotes of the episode, my quick Reverse the Polarity segment, new feedback from Holly from Wisconsin, Xan and Christine returning to talk Torchwood, and more!
