NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 247: "War of the Sontarans" Is Up!

"May death rain down on you both!"
"Well, it's nice to meet you, too."
-- Svild and the Thirteenth Doctor, Doctor Who: "War of the Sontarans"

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast!  This time, we're joined by special guest companion Holly Mac to discuss "War of the Sontarans", Chapter Two of "Flux", the second episode from Doctor Who Series 13, featuring Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, Mandip Gill as Yasmin "Yaz" Khan, John Bishop as Dan Lewis, and Sara Powell as Mary Seacole!

In this episode, Jesse, Holly and I discuss things like Holly being eager to talk new Doctor Who for a change, what Holly thought about "The Halloween Apocalypse", Jesse's update on his co-worker John watching Series 13, how we're enjoying Series 13's serialized format, the Sontarans being used better here than they were during Russell T Davies and Steven Moffat's eras, the passing of K-9 co-creator and classic era writer Bob Baker, the passing of Dean Stockwell, some Series 13 news, Dan actually having a mother who isn't a complete mess like other companion moms, some historical background on Mary Seacole, Linx claiming Earth for the Sontaran Empire in "The Time Warrior", the Doctor's reference to "The Charge of the Light Brigade" by Alfred Tennyson, Dan's parents only being 8 and 9 years older than John Bishop in real life, the Greek mythological references to Atropos and the Moirai, General Logan not listening to the Doctor because she's a woman, the Doctor looking for the missing door to the TARDIS, fan speculation that the floating house is the House of Lungbarrow from the Doctor Who novel Lungbarrow, General Logan sabotaging the Doctor's parley with Skaak, Mary Seacole as an Almost Companion, wondering how Dan's parents became Sontaran experts in two days, Dan and Karvinista having a "buddy cop movie" relationship, Dan being extremely brave from the start, Dan's parents not freaking out when Dan went off to investigate the Sontarans with a wok, finally getting to see a proper Sontaran army in battle, Skaak granting Svild "mercy" by killing him, taking the Sontarans more seriously again with the original design, the Sontarans' plan to use the Crimean War as a pilot program for invading all of Earth's history, the Sontarans' arrogance in not staggering their rest periods, Yaz meeting Vinder at the Temple of Atropos, Vinder getting his hairstyle from Killmonger in Black Panther, Swarm knowing everything about Yaz and Vinder's backgrounds, the Priest Triangle claiming that Time is evil, wondering if the Timeless Child came from the planet Time, Swarm being responsible for corrupting the TARDIS, our favorite quotes of the episode, my Reverse the Polarity segment, new feedback from Dave Proctor and Sandi Gray, our new email address, Xan and I talking The Omen (1976) with Patrick Troughton on Drunk Cinema, Jesse's mom needing all the positive vibes, and more!
