DRUNK CINEMA 005: "Young Frankenstein" Is Up!

"From that fateful day when stinking bits of slime first crawled from the sea and shouted to the cold stars, "I am man", our greatest dread has always been the knowledge of our mortality. But tonight, we shall hurl the gauntlet of science into the frightful face of death itself.  Tonight, we shall ascend into the heavens!  We shall mock the earthquake!  We shall command the thunders, and penetrate into the very womb of impervious nature herself!"
-- Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, Young Frankenstein

Hey there, movie fans!  My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema!  This time, we reopen the Drunk Cinema Theatre to discuss Young Frankenstein, the 1974 comedy horror film directed by Mel Brooks and featuring Gene Wilder as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, Peter Boyle as The Monster, Marty Feldman as Igor, Teri Garr as Inga, and Cloris Leachman as Frau Blücher!

In this fifth episode, Xan and I discuss things like getting our parents their COVID-19 vaccines, our tribute to the late Cloris Leachman, Young Frankenstein being a double love story, Xan finally seeing me in a sweater instead of a t-shirt, the Oscars not liking comedies, b-movie director Irwin Allen, why Gene Wilder would've made a great Doctor on Doctor Who, Marty Feldman dying during the filming of Yellowbeard, the few Tom Cruise movies Xan has actually watched, Frederick and Elizabeth's social distancing, wondering what happened to the painting of Baron Victor Frankenstein, our mutual love of the hot pretzel shop Hot Sam, needing to appreciate sight gags in Mel Brooks movies, Igor and Sallah from Raiders of the Lost Ark being related, Mel Brooks getting the actual laboratory machines from Frankenstein (1931), Inspector Kemp wearing a monocle over an eyepatch, Frederick not being able to play darts while he's lying, Gene Hackman as Harold the blind man, Xan's favorite movie that stars a convicted murderer, the greatest Star Trek movie in the history of Star Trek movies, my wife Lori's favorite movies, and more!
