"Imagine if time happened all at once. Every moment of your life laid out around you…like a city. Streets full of buildings made of days. The day you were born, the day you die, the day you fall in love, the day that love ends. A whole city built from triumph and heartbreak and boredom and laughter and cutting your toenails. It's the best place you will ever be. Time is a structure relative to ourselves. Time is the space made by our lives, where we stand together forever. Time and relative dimension in space. It means life."
-- The Twelfth Doctor, Doctor Who: "The Pilot"
Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with another new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! Celebrating Next Stop Everywhere's 6th Anniversary, we're joined by special guest companion Hannah Skorapa to provide our commentary track for "The Pilot", the first episode from Doctor Who Series Ten in 2017, featuring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, Matt Lucas as Nardole, and introducing Pearl Mackie as Bill Potts!
In this episode, Jesse, Hannah and I discuss things like celebrating our 6th anniversary by completely throwing out our format, originally reviewing "The Pilot" 116 episodes ago, Hannah not being a big Clara fan, Peter Capaldi being Next Stop Everywhere's Doctor, showing off my Twelfth Doctor and Bill action figures, Sophie Aldred struggling with Sylvester McCoy's accent, Hannah wishing she could've shown "The Pilot" to her younger self when she walked away from Doctor Who, Nardole's rebuilt body, all the easter eggs in the Doctor's office, Bill serving up chips vs. Rose Tyler serving up chips, Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart", the Twelfth Doctor's aging rock star persona, creepy puddles, the Twelfth Doctor going back in time to get Bill a Christmas gift, the Doctor having everything in his pockets, wondering why Bill still has a foster mom, my initially thinking Heather was related to the Flood from "The Waters of Mars", fans being unfair to Peter Capaldi during his era, Nardole being a chick magnet, Murray Gold needing to get off his ass and make the Series 10 soundtrack album, the Doctor trying to mindwipe Bill like he did Donna Noble, new Doctor Who showrunners wanting to start fresh, blowing up the TARDIS interior during regenerations, thinking Bill and the Thirteenth Doctor would've hit it off, new feedback from David K. Proctor, wondering why Susan has never appeared in the modern era, posting our schedule through the end of the year, and more!
