"Don't call me stupid."
"To call you stupid would be an insult to stupid people. I've known sheep that could outwit you. I've worn dresses with higher IQs!"
-- Otto West and Wanda Gershwitz, A Fish Called Wanda
Hello again, movie fans! My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, we watch A Fish Called Wanda, the 1988 heist comedy film directed by Charles Crichton, starring John Cleese as Archie Leach, Jamie Lee Curtis as Wanda Gershwitz, Kevin Kline as Otto West, and Michael Palin as Ken Pile!
In this episode, Xan and I discuss things like my being able to breathe normally again after my sinus surgery, why we're watching A Fish Called Wanda, wondering why you forget how great A Fish Called Wanda is, both of us being fans of Jamie Lee Curtis' TV series Anything but Love, Kevin Kline's bourbon song on Bob's Burgers, Michael Palin being our favorite member of Monty Python, Tom Georgeson appearing in the Doctor Who serials "Genesis of the Daleks" and "Logopolis", Stephen Fry's cameo appearance, a brief intermission as Xan feeds her cats, the Michael Palin Centre for Stammering, Kevin Kline's very physical performance as Otto, Otto pretending to be gay for Ken to distract Ken from being suspicious about his relationship with Wanda, guys scrambling to make a good impression for women, the great contrast of Otto and Wanda having sex and Archie and Wendy not having sex at bedtime, Otto telling Archie to fuck Wanda blue, the scene where we both learned about British chips, Wanda kissing Ken to keep him from stuttering, Julee Cruise's first album Floating into the Night, new Drunk Mail from Dave Proctor, our upcoming episode watching the cult classic Blade Runner and why we're watching the Final Cut version, and more!
