DOCTOR WHO 60th Anniversary Teaser Trailer Features the Return of Donna Noble

Merry Christmas, Whovians! We have a new Doctor Who trailer!

The official Doctor Who YouTube account has released a new teaser trailer for the first of three specials for Doctor Who's 60th anniversary in 2023, featuring David Tennant as the mysterious new Fourteenth Doctor and the return of Catherine Tate as former Tenth Doctor companion Donna Noble.

The one-minute teaser trailer opens in 2023 London, with a shot of the River Thames near the Tower Bridge. The TARDIS materializes nearby and then we cut to a glimpse of Yasmin Finney's character, another mystery named Rose.

As we see a strange, spherical space pod on Earth, Donna provides a voiceover, saying "Sometimes I think there's something missing. Like I had something lovely...and it's gone." Donna's mother, Sylvia Noble (Jacqueline King), looks extremely concerned about this, knowing that she must never mention the Doctor to her as that might trigger her memory of events and cause her mind to "burn up", killing her, as shown in the events of the episode "Journey's End".

The Fourteenth Doctor says in a voiceover, "I don't know who I am anymore" as we then hear Neil Patrick Harris' unnamed character say in a German accent, "The show is just beginning! Worldwide premiere!"

Next, we see Rose ask a furry alien creature who appears to be Doctor Who comics character Beep the Meep, "Who are they?" Beep replies, "Monsters!"

The monsters Beep refers to are then shown, appearing to be Wrarth Warriors from the same comics storyline, "Doctor Who and the Star Beast", from Doctor Who Magazine #19 through #26 and reprinted in Marvel Comics' 1984 series Doctor Who (vol.1) #1 and #2.

We hear the Fourteenth Doctor say in another voiceover, "I don't believe in destiny, but if destiny exists, then it is heading for Donna Noble." Later, in a separate scene, he says, "If she ever remembers me, she will die."

Of course, Donna spots the Fourteenth Doctor in another scene, calling him "Skinny Man!" as Rose looks on. Sylvia tries to block the Doctor from Donna's view, telling Donna, "He's not there! You can't see him!"

This is followed by fleeting glimpses of the Wrarth Warriors attacking, the Fourteenth Doctor getting into a car while saying Tenth Doctor catchphrase "Allons-y!", Neil Patrick Harris' character excitedly throwing red rose petals at the camera, Ruth Madeley's character Shirley Anne Bingham, and finally, the previous teaser footage of Ncuti Gatwa's incoming Fifteenth Doctor saying, "Will someone tell me what the hell is going on here?!"

If you'd like to see the new trailer, you can check it out below thanks to the official Doctor Who YouTube channel...

Doctor Who is scheduled to return for three 60th Anniversary Specials sometime in November 2023.

TITANTALK 083: "Nostalgia Patrol" Is Up!

"All of my life, I have felt like a fraud. All of my life, I have been the imposter masquerading as Rita Farr. But one day, you crazy bunch of misfits, who are just like me, came into my life. I say, ‘Fuck Niles Caulder,’ for most things, but not this. He gave me you, my family. I know you don’t think we deserve anything but one thing I know we do deserve is the love that we have for each other. Well, had. Before the Butts screwed us up and that weird testicle monster thing, but the point is, you accept me, the real me, whether I blob or triumph, you are always the place that I return to. You are my home."

LET'S ROCK

In this episode, Xan and I discuss things like the miles not coming off Xan's car, both of thinking Rear Window is Alfred Hitchcock's best film, Xan's family tradition of watching Rear Window when you're sick, recording more than one movie on VHS back in the '80s, the porn industry dictating video formats, Anthony Perkins saving Psycho II, our friend Rachel Frend hating It's a Wonderful Life, Thelma Ritter's four Best Supporting Actress nominations in a row that she never won, Stella having zero filter and not being afraid of talking about something gruesome, Raymond Burr as the original Perry Mason and the American in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, the original short story "It Had to Be Murder" by Cornell Woolrich, David Lynch's quotes on Rear Window, the decision to build working apartments and a drainage system for the Greenwich Village courtyard, the Thalberg Award being the Consolation Oscar, Alfred Hitchcock coming on to Tippi Hedren's daughter, Lisa telling Jeff that he's being too risky with his job as a photographer, Jeff using his job as reason not to commit to their relationship, Hitchcock working from Jeff's "apartment", Stella taking on the role of Jeff's Jewish mother, Lisa being mortified by Stella's bluntness about the murder, Thorwald's dick move by killing the dog, Lisa's terribly unsubtle job at pointing out Mrs.Thorwald's wedding ring to Jeff, Ms. Lonelyhearts' suicide attempt, wondering why Thorwald didn't close his eyes to lunge at Jeff, Lisa reading Beyond the Himalayas by Supreme Court Justice William O. Douglas until Jeff falls asleep, comparing and contrasting David Lynch and Alfred Hitchcock, some Ghostwood feedback from Nick Alexander, The Godfather being the gold standard of mafia movies, our upcoming discussion of The Silence of the Lambs on Gold Standard: The Oscars Podcast, Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Xan and I paying tribute to the late Kevin Conroy on Drunk Cinema, our upcoming discussion of Sunset Boulevard, and more!

"None of us know for sure what's out there, that's why we keep looking. Keep your faith, travel hopefully. The universe will surprise you...constantly."

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we're joined by special guest companion Holly Mac as we discuss Jodie Whittaker's era as the Thirteenth Doctor, exploring the highs and lows from Doctor Who Series 11 through 13 and the 2022 Specials!

In this episode, Jesse, Holly and I discuss things like this being the first time we've discussed an entire era of the Doctor in one episode, Jodie having a lot of obstacles in front of her, wondering why Chris Chibnall didn't use more legacy writers from previous eras, giving Chibnall credit for trying to be innovative with the show...whether you liked it or not, giving Chibnall credit for embracing the classic era in "The Power of the Doctor", wondering how the total length of Jodie's screentime as the Thirteenth Doctor stacks up against previous Doctors, Series 11 introducing the Thirteenth Doctor, Yaz, Graham and Ryan, Jesse being able to cosplay as Graham O'Brien, our favorite episodes from each season/series, Jodie's era featuring a lot of historical figures, Jodie's gender-neutral costume as the Thirteenth Doctor, the smaller TARDIS console room compared to recent console rooms, wishing that Tosin Cole had returned to film a closing YouTube video as Ryan, Series 12 introducing Sacha Dhawan's Master, Ashad and the Fugitive Doctor, the controversial decision to introduce the Timeless Child and other incarnations before William Hartnell's First Doctor, the return of John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness, Michelle Gomez balancing the Master's insanity better than John Simm or Sacha Dhawan, Ashad the Lone Cyberman being the best original villain from Jodie's era, Series 13: Flux introducing John Bishop as Dan Lewis and featuring the first season-long storyline since "The Trial of a Time Lord" in 1986, the COVID-19 global pandemic affecting the production of new episodes, the fantastic cliffhanger at the end of "Village of the Angels", the Sontarans being the Klingons of Doctor Who, the tragic death of Professor Jericho, Chibnall giving fans what they wanted in "The Power of the Doctor", whether "The Power of the Doctor" was a satisfying conclusion to Jodie's era, wondering if Big Finish could redeem Jodie's Doctor in some fans' eyes the way they did with Colin Baker, Holly's thoughts on "The Power of the Doctor", new feedback from Dave Proctor, Jesse doing 30 podcasts in 30 days, why the timing is right to finally discuss "Time-Flight", and more!

DOCTOR WHO Casts Millie Gibson as New Companion Ruby Sunday

Doctor Who is switching from a diamond for the 60th anniversary to a Ruby.

During Children in Need 2022, the annual BBC fundraiser, actress Millie Gibson was announced as Ruby Sunday, the new companion for the upcoming Doctor Who Series 14 starring Ncuti Gatwa as the incoming Fifteenth Doctor.

According to the official announcement, Gibson will make her debut "over the festive season in 2023 when the Fifteenth Doctor takes control of the TARDIS."

Gibson, 18, is an English actress best known as Kelly Neelan on the ITV soap opera Coronation Street and as Indira on the CBBC series Jamie Johnson. She was the recipient of the Best Young Performer Award at The British Soap Awards earlier this year, and has also appeared in dramas Butterfly and Love, Lies and Records.

In a statement, Gibson remarked, "Whilst still being in total disbelief, I am beyond honored to be cast as the Doctor’s companion. It is a gift of a role, and a dream come true, and I will do everything to try and fill the boots the fellow companions have travelled in before me. And what better way to do that than being by the fabulous Ncuti Gatwa’s side, I just can’t wait to get started."

Gatwa said, "Millie just is the companion. She is full of talent, strength, she has a cheeky sparkle in her eye and is sharp as a razor. From the moment she walked into the room, she captured all of our attention with her effervescence and then solidified that attention with the sheer torque of her talent. This adventure is going to be so wild and so fun, I cannot WAIT to sail the universe with Millie!"

Meanwhile, returning showrunner Russell T Davies stated, "It’s the great honor of my job to find the next generation of talent, and Millie shines like a star already. She’s brilliant, dynamic, clever and a wonderful actor. As a Coronation Street fan, I’ve seen Millie survive chases, guns and sieges, but that’s nothing compared to what lies ahead for Ruby Sunday."

The new episodes of Doctor Who will return in November 2023 to coincide with the 60th anniversary. David Tennant will play the Fourteenth Doctor for three specials, before Ncuti Gatwa takes over the role as the Fifteenth Doctor over the 2023 festive season.
