New TITANS Season 2 Trailer Introduces Doctor Light & Shimmer

Titans Tower is back open for business.

DC has released a new trailer for the second season of the DC Universe series Titans, based on the DC Comics superteam.  The two-minute trailer features even more footage than the previous trailer that was released three weeks ago, while giving us our first look at new Season 2 villains Doctor Light and Shimmer.

The trailer opens with footage from the Season One episode "Asylum", where Richard "Dick" Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) burned his Robin uniform after giving up his superhero identity.  We hear a voiceover from Donna Troy (Conor Leslie), who says, "You burned the suit, you're not Robin anymore, so what now?"

We cut to Hank Hall (Alan Ritchson) and Dawn Granger (Minka Kelly), who are having an intense conversation inside a log cabin somewhere.  "Being Hawk and Dove was dangerous for both of us," Hank tells Dawn.  "I stopped, but if you can't, we're done."

Next, we cut to another intense conversation, this time between Aqualad (Drew Van Acker) and Donna Troy as another woman looks on.  "You're asking me to choose between your destiny and you," Donna tells him, hinting that the two may have had a relationship in this TV continuity.

Aqualad replies, "Maybe they're the same thing."

We then see Raven (Teagan Croft) talking on the phone to someone while emotionally upset and drained.  "I'm so tired," she says to the person on the other end.

Dawn confronts Dick inside their new/old Titans Tower headquarters, giving him an ultimatum.  "End your little experiment or I will burn this place down myself."

"There's ghosts in this place," Donna remarks to Dick in a separate scene.  "Tell them what happened."

In the next scene, we see Jason Todd, the second Robin (Curran Walters), getting up in Dick's grill as Raven and Garfield Logan (Ryan Potter) watch in the background.  "Look, I don't take orders from you anymore, man," Jason tells Dick.

"Get out of my way," Dick threatens in response.

"You're in my way," counters Jason.

We shift to stately Wayne Manor, where Dick asks his former mentor Bruce Wayne (Iain Glen), "Would you do it again?  Devote all that time and trouble to someone who just wants to leave?"

"I would do everything exactly the same," Bruce responds in a voiceover.

In a separate scene, cut with Hawk and Dove fighting some criminals, Dick tells Raven, "I'm not sure if it's the right thing to do."  Raven responds, "I don't think you have a choice."

Another scene, this time with Starfire (Anna Diop), who asks Dick, "You ready for this, Grayson?"  Dick replies, "Yep."

We then see Dick training Gar how to swordfight, with Dick completely blindfolded.

Next, we see Donna using her magic lasso on the supervillain Shimmer, snagging her by the hands and yanking her forward so that Starfire can knock her out with a punch.  "What is the deal with you and Shimmer, anyway?" Starfire asks in a voiceover.

Donna replies, "Well first, her name is Shimmer and that's just annoying."

In the next scene, Superboy (Joshua Orpin) grabs the gun of a criminal in an alley and bends it upward, then meets Krypto the Superdog after the two escape Cadmus Labs.  "Okay, Krypto," he tells the Superdog while reading a nametag on a borrowed uniform, "I guess I am...Conner."  He then grabs his familiar black t-shirt with the red Superman logo from a street vendor in Metropolis.

Rose Wilson, the daughter of Deathstroke, is brought to Titans Tower after losing her left eye.  "Hey, what the hell is this place, anyway?" she asks Dick.

"This is a place where people like you can learn how to the be the best version of who you are," explains Dick as we see him sparring with Rose, now sporting a black eyepatch like her father, who severs Dick's wooden staff in two with her sword.

"I hope I haven't broken this place," remarks Rose.

Starfire is then confronted in the street by an unknown man who appears to be from her home planet of Tamaran.  "Hello, Miss Koriand'r," says the man.

"Who else did they send?" asks Kory.

"Just me," replies the man.  He then tazes Kory with a device and she slumps unconscious into his arms.  "Sorry about that, your highness."

We cut to Doctor Light (Michael Mosley), who is wearing what appears to be a prototype armored costume and is unleashing his light-based powers on innocents.  "I'm glad you could make it!" he shouts.

As the second Robin interrupts a TV news broadcast to say "The Titans are back, bitches!", we see that Slade Wilson (Esai Morales), a.k.a. Deathstroke, is watching the broadcast.

"Slade Wilson is why we shuttered this place..." Donna begins telling someone off-camera, hinting that Deathstroke may have killed Aqualad during the previous incarnation of the Titans.  We see Deathstroke aiming a sniper rifle at someone as Donna continues, "...Sooner or later, he'll come knocking."

As one of Deathstroke's assassination targets drops to the floor, Hank remarks in a voiceover, "He's gonna kill how many more now?"

As Donna, Hank, Dawn and Dick stand beside one another and watch something off-camera, Dawn tells Dick, "Now's the time.  Be Batman."

If you'd like to check out the trailer, you can view it below thanks to the official DC Comics account on YouTube...

NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 152: "Colony in Space" is Up!

"Look at all those planetary systems, Doctor.  We could rule them all!"
"What for?  What is the point?"
"The point is that one must rule or serve.  That is the basic law of life.  Why do you hesitate? Surely, it's not loyalty to the Time Lords, who exiled you on one insignificant planet?"
"You'll never understand, will you?  I want to see the universe, not to rule it."
-- The First Master and the Third Doctor, Doctor Who: "Colony in Space"

Hello again, everyone!  My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast!  This time, we discuss "Colony in Space", the fourth serial from Doctor Who Season 8 in 1971, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, Katy Manning as Jo Grant, Roger Delgado as the First Master, and Bernard Kay as Caldwell!

In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like Jesse wanting to discuss a classic story with Jo Grant, the Third Doctor finally getting to leave Earth for a little bit during his exile, Roy Skelton being one of the first Cyberman voices, Terrance Dicks hating the premise of the Doctor being exiled on Earth, "Colony in Space" essentially being two separate stories in one, Jo's initial reluctance about travelling in time and space, the Third Doctor's wanderlust overriding Jo's wishes to return to Earth, the Time Lords manipulating the Doctor to stop the Master from getting the doomsday weapon, the Interplanetary Mining Corporation trying to drive the colonists off planet by scaring them with images of a giant lizard, Wilfred Norton acting as an undercover agent for the IMC, the Uxarieus colonists trusting that the Ajudicator will side with them over the IMC, the Master having his own agenda of getting the doomsday weapon, the Master being a Bond villain to Jon Pertwee's James Bond, getting to see the inside of the Master's TARDIS, Ashe sacrificing himself to save the other colonists, our favorite quotes of the story, the Doctor's French Drop coin magic trick, my Reverse the Reverse the Polarity segment, the Guardian's freaky little baby body, new listener feedback from Holly Mac and Terri Stevens, Jesse butchering more quotations, and more!

THE FANDOM ZONE 164: "The Boys Season One Review"

"See, people love that cozy feeling Supes give them, but if you knew half the shit they get up to...Fuckin' diabolical.  But then, that's where I come in -- to spank the bastards when they get out of line."
-- Billy Butcher, The Boys: "The Name of the Game"

Hello again, everyone!  My co-host Jesse Jackson and I are back with another new episode of The Fandom Zone Podcast!  This time, we review Season One of the Amazon Prime Video superhero drama The Boys, featuring a discussion of each episode, standout characters and actors, differences between the TV series and the original Dynamite Entertainment comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, and more!

In this episode, Jesse and I talk about things like my being a fan of The Boys comic book series and Jesse coming into the TV series cold, Garth Ennis balancing the superviolence with dark humor, what interested Jesse in checking out the TV series, The Boys TV series essentially being a superhero version of the Preacher TV series, why changes to the original comic book source material make the TV show more unpredictable, changes to the Homelander and other characters, the Deep becoming the superhero of Sandusky, Ohio, Simon Pegg being cast as Hughie's dad instead of Wee Hughie, Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Erin Moriarty as Starlight, A-Train being a stereotypical wide receiver, Butcher taking Hughie to an underground Supes club, Butcher manipulating Hughie using Translucent's death, Karen Fukuhara as The Female, Frenchie's friendship with The Female, Homelander and Queen Maeve's big airplane rescue fail, the brilliant casting of Haley Joel Osment as Mesmer, Butcher's pathological hatred of Supes, Annie realizing her mom has been lying to her for years, Jesse and I jumping over to TitanTalk: The Titans Podcast to discuss Titans Season 2, and more!

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER D23 Special Look Teases Sith Lord Rey

Your Skywalker Saga journey nears its end.

Disney has released the special look footage of the upcoming film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, which debuted this past weekend at the Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim, California.

After some brief highlight clips from the original Star Wars trilogy, the prequel trilogy and The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, the new footage begins around the 1:12 mark.

We see Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), C-3PO (Anthony Daniels), and Chewbacca (Joonas Suotamo) come across a crowded alien village, followed by a quick glimpse of General Leia Organa (the late Carrie Fisher).

Next, we glimpse a group of remaining Rebel fighters and a large fleet of Star Destroyers above a planet having a thunderstorm.  Finn and new Resistance ally character Jannah (Naomi Ackie) stare at them from inside a ship.

C-3PO raises up, now sporting red eyes, which is followed by something offscreen firing a destructive energy weapon at a planet below.

In a forest, Rey seems upset about something and hurls her lightsaber, which spins around and cuts a nearby tree in half before it returns to her hand.

As we see Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) leaving his TIE silencer on Planet Thunderstorm and activating his lightsaber, we hear the voice of Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) begin saying "Your journey..."

We cut to Kylo Ren and Rey having another lightsaber fight (their last?) aboard some sort of freighter in the middle of a raging ocean, while Palpatine finishes saying, "...nears its end."

Finally, we hear of familiar breathing of Darth Vader and see Rey in a black hooded cloak and costume, looking very much like a Sith Lord.  She holds a two-pronged lightsaber with red energy blades, which she snaps into a dual-edged lightsaber similar to Darth Maul's from Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

Has Rey succumbed to the Dark Side?  Is Palpatine's spirit possessing her body?  Or is this just some vision of what might happen if Rey isn't careful?

You can check out the D23 special look footage below, thanks to the official Star Wars account on YouTube...

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is scheduled to arrive in theaters on December 20, 2019.

THE ETERNALS Casts Kit Harington as The Black Knight & Gemma Chan as Sersi

It seems Kit Harington's watch is eternal.

CBR has word from Disney's D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, where it was announced that actors Kit Harington, Gemma Chan and Barry Keoghan are joining the cast of the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film The Eternals, based on the Marvel Comics characters.  They will play the characters The Black Knight/Dane Whitman, Sersi and Druig, respectively.

The three join Angelina Jolie as Thena, Richard Madden as Ikaris, Kumail Nanjiani as Kingo, Lauren Ridloff as Makkari, Brian Tyree Henry as Phastos, Salma Hayek as Ajak, Lia McHugh as Sprite, and Don Lee as Gilgamesh.  The full roster of the Eternals were presented at D23 along with each character's costume, which can be seen in the picture above.

The Eternals are a fictional species of humanity that resulted from an offshoot of the evolutionary process that created sentient life on Earth.  The original instigators of this process, the alien Celestials, intended the Eternals to be the defenders of Earth, which leads to the inevitability of war against their destructive counterparts, the Deviants.

Harrington, 32, is an English actor best known as Jon Snow on the HBO fantasy series Game of ThronesHis other films include Pompeii, How to Train Your Dragon 2, How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, Spooks: The Greater Good, Brimstone, and Silent HIll: Revelation.

Created in 1967 by Roy Thomas, John Buscema and George Tuska, the Black Knight first appeared in The Avengers (vol.1) #47 as Dane Whitman, the original Black Knight's descendant and the supervillain Black Knight's nephew.  Whitman inherited the Ebony Blade, a mystical sword that carried a curse, and took the Black Knight name to help restore honor.  The Black Knight has been a member of various incarnations of the Avengers, as well as the Defenders, Ultraforce, Heroes for Hire, and MI: 13.

Chan, 36, is an English actress best known as Astrid in the film Crazy Rich Asians, and as Minn-Erva in the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Captain MarvelHer other films include Mary Queen of Scots, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Transformers: The Last Knight, and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit.  Her television roles include the Doctor Who special "The Waters of Mars" as Mia Bennett, the Sherlock episode "The Blind Banker", and as Anita/Mia in the series Humans.

Created in 1963 by Jack Kirby, Sersi first appeared in Strange Tales (vol.1) #109 as a fourth generation member of the Eternals, an evolutionary offshoot of the human race.  She is the daughter of the Eternals Helios and Perse, and was probably born in Olympia, Greece, some time after the Great Cataclysm that destroyed the continents of Atlantis and Lemuria, during an extended ice age known as the Hyborean Age.  As a sorceress, Sersi first met Avengers members Captain America and Thor, then later joined the team along with the Black Knight.

The Eternals is scheduled to arrive in theaters on November 6, 2020.

Spider-Man to Exit Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sony Pictures Blames Kevin Feige's Workload

With not-great movie studio impasses comes great Spidey fan heartbreak.

Deadline and Variety are reporting details regarding Sony Pictures and Disney's inability to reach new terms to continue their shared involvement in making movies based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man.  The impasse means that Spider-Man will no longer appear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films going forward, and Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will no longer be involved in guiding Sony's future Spider-Man films.

According to the articles, the central dispute between Sony Pictures and Disney is Disney's demand that future Spider-Man films be financed on a 50/50 basis between the two studios, with Feige remaining in a consulting producer capacity.  Sony declined to share half of its valuable franchise, wanting to keep the current arrangement terms, which have Marvel receiving about 5% of first-dollar gross and all merchandising revenues.  If Sony had agreed, Marvel and Feige wouldn't have withdrawn from future Spider-Man films.

Sony attempted to place the blame on Kevin Feige's workload, saying in a statement, "Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise.  We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live action Spider-Man film.  We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own.  Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue."

The "newly added Marvel properties" Sony mentioned refer to the movie rights to Marvel's Fantastic Four and X-Men characters that Disney now has as a result of their recent 21st Century Fox acquisition.

In 2015, Disney, Marvel and Sony announced a deal to share the Spider-Man film rights, which led to Tom Holland portraying a younger version of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home.  Sony distributed the two solo Spider-Man films, while Disney distributed the others.

Sony is believed to be developing two more Spider-Man movies, with Holland reprising his role, but has not officially announced those titles.  However, Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home director Jon Watts is not signed to return for a third film.  This week, Spider-Man: Far From Home became Sony Pictures' all-time highest-grossing film, surpassing the James Bond film Skyfall, while Spider-Man: Homecoming made over $880 million worldwide.

TITANS Casts Michael Mosley as Doctor Light

Are the Fearsome Five coming to Titans?

According to ComicBook.com, the DC Universe series Titans has cast actor Michael Mosley as Dr. Arthur Light, better known to DC Comics fans as the supervillain Doctor Light.

Mosley joins new Season 2 additions Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne, Esai Morales as Deathstroke, Joshua Orpin as Superboy, Drew Van Acker as Aqualad, Chelsea T. Zhang as Ravager, Chella Man as Jericho, and Genevieve Angelson as Eve Watson.

Mosley, 40, is probably best known as Pastor Mason Young on the Netflix series Ozark and as Drew Suffin on the NBC sitcom Scrubs.  His other television appearances include episodes of Fear the Walking Dead: Passage, Elementary, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Criminal Minds, Seven Seconds, Longmire, 30 Rock, Pan Am, The Wire, Justified, Law & Order: Los Angeles, Castle, The Mentalist, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.  His films include Peppermint, Hot Pursuit, The Proposal, 27 Dresses, and The Accidental Husband.

Created in 1962 by Gardner Fox and Mike Sekowsky, Doctor Light first appeared in Justice League of America (vol.1) #12 as Dr. Arthur Light, a criminal physicist who captured the Justice League with light rays after first drawing them in by capturing Aquaman, then sending the League to different planets based on their weaknesses.  Not realizing that Superman and Batman impersonated each other, Superman escaped the world he was sent to and rescued the other members.  Dr. Light fooled the League with three duplicates of himself that were apparently committing robberies of light-associated objects, though they were actually placing devices around the world.  Green Lantern realized this trick and faked his death to track Doctor Light, finally stopping him before he pulled a lever that would have set off light impulses that would allow him to take over the world.

Doctor Light later founded the Fearsome Five, a team of supervillains, through an ad he placed in the Underworld Star, a criminal underground newsletter.  Light formed the group to attack the Teen Titans, but Psimon (who was under the influence of Trigon, the demon from whom he had received his superhuman abilities) usurped Light’s role as leader, and the two would continue to struggle for leadership for some time.  A short time later, the Five turned on Dr. Light, expelling him from the group and trying to kill him, but Light escaped.  Psimon again became leader, though the Five were again defeated, this time by the Titans, Batman, and the Outsiders.  Dr. Light continued as supervillain, only to find himself defeated over and over in various embarrassing encounters.

Driven by self-doubt and guilt, thanks in part to the ghostly presence of Jacob Finlay, his former partner at S.T.A.R Labs, Dr. Light volunteered for the Suicide Squad, a group of incarcerated supervillains who perform dangerous missions for the US government in exchange for clemency.  On a mission against the patriotism-themed super-team The Force of July, he encountered Sparkler, the Force's youngest member.  The presence of a superpowered child reminded him of past defeats and he lashed out, killing Sparkler with a blast through the chest.

Finlay's ghost eventually convinced Dr. Light to attempt a heroic turn during a mission where multiple members of the team, some unwillingly, traveled to Apokolips.  Light was swiftly shot dead by Parademons and sent to Hell, where he was reunited with Finlay.  Under the watch of a lesser demon and its annoying assistant, both men were released from Hell in turns and returned to life, only soon to die again over and over several times.  Possessing the body of the second Doctor Light, Kimiyo Hoshi, Dr. Light's presence was rejected by Hoshi, freeing him of his ex-partner's hauntings.  Dr. Light attempted to rejoin the Suicide Squad, but his appeal was rejected by Amanda Waller.

In the event known as Identity Crisis, it was revealed that Doctor Light had raped Sue Dibny, the wife of the superhero Elongated Man, on the JLA Satellite.  The Justice League resolved to alter his mind with Zatanna's magic so that Dr. Light would no longer pose a threat to their loved ones.  In the process, they accidentally gave him a partial lobotomy, explaining how he fell from a plausible foe of the Justice League to a punching bag for the Teen Titans or Little Boy Blue.  He later recovered his memories and intellect when witnessing a fight between the League members responsible for his mind-wipe and Deathstroke, and vowed revenge against the Justice League.

In Final Crisis: Revelations #1, the Spectre delivered final judgment on Doctor Light, who was discovered in the middle of a mock superhero rape orgy with various women dressed as Teen Titans.  The Spectre burned him to death by turning him into a candle, using his head as the wick.

Mosley will be the second actor to portray Doctor Light in live-action, after David Bowe in an episode of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.  The character has also appeared in the animated series Teen Titans (voiced by Rodger Bumpass) and Teen Titans Go! (voiced by Scott Menville and Rodger Bumpass).

Titans returns to DC Universe for Season 2 on September 6, 2019.

In this episode, Jesse and I talk about things like Krypton Season 2 not ending with a satisfying ending, the Seg-El and Lyta-Zod's fitting way of taking General Zod off the board with the Black Mercy, Seg-El's less-than-inspiring speech to bring Zod's Sagitari over to his side, everyone sharing a toast in memory of Kem, Seg-El and Lyta vs. their son Dru-Zod, Chekov's Mercy, General Zod's ideal fantasy world, why General Zod was placed under the Black Mercy instead of the Phantom Zone, wondering what happens to the conscripted Sagitari after General Zod's downfall, Nyssa-Vex's plan to go to Rann to get Sardath to help her find Brainiac and Jor-El, my theory that Darkseid and his Parademons are being teased for Season 3 instead of the Hawkmen from the planet Thanagar, some background on Thanagar and the Katar Hol Hawkman, Val-El getting hammered, Adam Strange finally getting his red suit and jetpack, wondering if Adam Strange will stay in leg braces, my previous theory of Lobo's return being proven right, Brainiac's plan for baby Jor-El on Earth, Lobo relieving himself on a window, Doomsday surviving Wegthor's destruction, our favorite quotes of the episode, Seg-El's homage to Christopher Reeve's Superman in Superman II, Syfy being Syfy by cancelling Krypton and the proposed Lobo spinoff, why Krypton fans should focus their #SaveKrypton efforts on DC Universe and HBO Max instead of Syfy, being surprised by how well The Boys performed on Amazon Prime Video, a quick update on former Fandom Zone co-host Karen Lindsay, and more!

Ewan McGregor in Talks to Reprise Obi-Wan Kenobi for Disney+ Series

In these negotiations, Ewan McGregor obviously has the high ground.

Deadline is confirming reports that actor Ewan McGregor is in talks to reprise his Star Wars character Ben "Obi-Wan" Kenobi in a new, untitled TV series for the upcoming Disney+ streaming service.  This will be the third live-action Star Wars series on Disney+, after The Mandalorian and a still-untitled series starring Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk, reprising their Rogue One: A Star Wars Story characters Cassian Andor and K-2SO.

According to the article, plans for a Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff film changed into the current plan for a big-budget TV series, similar to how the planned Boba Fett spinoff film turned into the Disney+ series The MandalorianThe original film plan was to release Kenobi: A Star Wars Story as part of the anthology film series that included Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story.  Stephen Daldry was slated to direct, and according to TMZthe film reportedly would have taken place a few years after the fall of the Republic shown in Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith, with marauding Tusken Raiders and an evil warlord bringing Obi-Wan out of hiding to protect Luke Skywalker and some farmers on the planet Tatooine.

McGregor, 48, is a Scottish actor who previously played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the films Star Wars: Episode I -- The Phantom Menace, Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith.  He'll be playing the villain Black Mask in the upcoming DC Extended Universe film Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), while his other films include Trainspotting, T2 Trainspotting, Doctor Sleep, Beauty and the Beast (2017), Christopher Robin, Mortdecai, Angels & Demons, Robots, Big Fish, Black Hawk Down, Moulin Rouge!, Emma, and Shallow Grave.  His television appearances include episodes of Fargo, ER, and Tales from the Crypt.

McGregor is the second actor to portray Obi-Wan Kenobi, after Sir Alec Guinness in Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.  The character also appeared in the animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars: The Clone Wars (voiced by James Arnold Taylor), and Star Wars Rebels (voiced by Stephen Stanton).

NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 151: "Battlefield" is Up!

"Sir, we don't know what the situation is here!"
"The situation, Lavel, is normal, and it doesn't get much worse than that.  You know, I'm rather enjoying this."
-- Flight Lieutenant Lavel and Brigadier Alastair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, Doctor Who: "Battlefield"

Hello again, everyone!  I'm back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast, as one our favorite emailers, Holly Mac, levels up as our newest Special Guest Companion to discuss "Battlefield", the first serial from Doctor Who Season 26 in 1989, starring Sylvester McCoy as the Seventh Doctor, Sophie Aldred as Ace, Nicholas Courtney as the Brigadier, and Jean Marsh as Morgaine!

In this episode, Holly and I discuss things like how Holly became a Doctor Who fan, why she wanted to discuss "Battlefield", The Brigadier almost being killed off in "Battlefield", former First Doctor companion actress Jean Marsh returning to Doctor Who, the story of how Sylvester McCoy saved Sophie Aldred from serious harm during the water tank sequence, why the TARDIS console room in "Battlefield" is so dark, the Doctor being the only one who could bring The Brigadier out of retirement, wanting the Brigadier to meet the Seventh Doctor at least one episode sooner, the Brigadier being very progressive and accepting with female UNIT officers, everyone thinking the Seventh Doctor is Merlin, Ace and Shou Yuing geeking out over explosives and being bad influences on one another, Bessie's Back to the Future nod, wondering how the hell Brigadier Bambera hooked up with Ancelyn, Ancelyn not knowing how to drive, Doris taking Bessie and going shopping with Ace and the others, Morgaine and The Brigadier having a chat and agreeing to kill one another later on the battlefield, Mordred needing to take it down a notch when he laughs, the impressive (for 1989) design of the Destroyer, wondering why Morgaine and the Destroyer never busted out of UNIT prison, our favorite quotes of the story, my Reverse the Reverse the Polarity segment, new listener feedback from Paul from Australia, Holly on The Five(ish) Fangirls Podcast, and more!
