DRUNK CINEMA 103: "Dracula A.D. 1972" Is Up!

"A treatise on the Black Mass? What do you want with this?"
"Oh, just a quiet bit of mind blowing."
"Jessica, this is not a subject to mess around with. These are scientific works."
"You can buy that sort of stuff in almost any shady bookshop in Soho. I think it's all kinky."
"What's that?"
"Weird, man. Way out. I mean, spooks, hobgoblins, black magic...All that jazz!"
-- Lorrimer Van Helsing and Jessica Van Helsing, Dracula A.D. 1972

Hello again, movie fans!  My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, Xan and I watch Dracula A.D. 1972, the 1972 Hammer horror film directed by Alan Gibson, featuring the return of Christopher Lee as Count Dracula, along with Peter Cushing as Lorrimer Van Helsing, Stephanie Beacham as Jessica Van Helsing, and Christopher Neame as Johnny Alucard!

This time, Xan and I discuss things like calling out United Dairy Farmers for only having pints of Xan's favorite ice cream, '70s swinging Dracula vs. Blacula, my needing to see The Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires, Caroline Munro in The Abominable Dr. Phibes and The Spy Who Loved Me, Stephanie Beacham as Sable Colby on Dynasty and The Colbys, Johnny Alucard's last name being the reverse of Dracula, Xan listening to the audiobook of Kyle MacLachlan's memoir, Marsha Hunt being the inspiration for the Rolling Stones song "Brown Sugar", Mannfred Mann guitarist Mike Vickers doing the score, Xan having a cheese palate, the last of my Stella Artois, Dracula's remains resembling Ming the Merciless' remains, the band Stoneground being a last-minute replacement for Rod Stewart's original band The Faces, Xan's love of the song "Dancin' With Myself", Dr. Acula comin' at you, the thickness of Hammer horror blood, the film being inspired by the events surrounding the Highgate Vampire case, how cool it would be to have Peter Cushing as your grandfather, Xan's hatred of the Chelsea Male store, Johnny Alucard getting prune fingers, Dracula standing too close to the pit filled with wooden stakes, new Drunk Mail from Dave Proctor and Christine Peruski, my upcoming story for DC's Naughty List Christmas anthology, Xan and I producing on the fly, and more!
