NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 379: "The Sontaran Experiment" Is Up!

"Doctor! I thought you were dead."
"Not me. Piece of the synestic locking mechanism from Nerva's rocket — popped it in my pocket."
"Fortuitous."
"Foresight. You never know when these bits and pieces will come in handy. Never throw anything away, Harry. Now, where's my five hundred year diary? I remember jotting some notes on the Sontarans...It's a mistake to clutter one's pockets, Harry."
-- Harry Sullivan and the Fourth Doctor, Doctor Who: "The Sontaran Experiment"

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back for another new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we discuss "The Sontaran Experiment", the third serial from Doctor Who Season 12 in 1975, featuring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, Ian Marter as Harry Sullivan, and Kevin Lindsay as Field Major Styre and The Marshal!

In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like Jesse rocking a Dallas Cowboys soccer jersey, Jesse recruiting new listeners, Jesse thinking "The Sontaran Experiment" is like a good homecooked meal, Kevin Lindsay as Cho-Je in "Planet of the Spiders", script editor Robert Holmes not being a fan of 6-part serials, writers Bob Baker and Dave Martin wanting to homage Planet of the Apes, the serial being the second serial to be shot entirely on location, Tom Baker breaking his collarbone during filming, the serial being one of only eleven televised stories not the feature the TARDIS, Glyn Jones being the only person to act and write for Doctor Who during the original 1963-1989 run, Kevin Lindsay dying just six months after filming, Sarah Jane calling out Harry for calling her "Old thing", the Doctor using rope-a-dope on Field Major Styre, Sarah Jane being forced to experience various phobias, Harry Sullivan being the Rory Williams of the Tom Baker era, Roth not being able to trust the other marooned GalSec spacemen, wondering why Erak and Krans didn't just toss the gravity bar off to the side before it crushed Vural's body, the early potential for Sontarans being comic relief, the Sontarans' version of Office Space, dehydration being a bad way to die, Styre's head deflating like a balloon when the air inside is released, the Doctor telling the Marshal that his planned invasion of Earth is cancelled, our favorite quotes of the episode, my Reverse the Reverse the Polarity segment, some news on my story for DC Comics' upcoming Christmas anthology DC's Naughty List, Jesse talking more Lanterns on The Fandom Zone Podcast, Holly Mac returning for a Thirteenth Doctor Big Finish audio, and more!
