Hello again, movie fans! My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, we celebrate the 65th anniversary of Psycho, the 1960 horror film directed by Alfred Hitchcock, introducing Anthony Perkins as Norman Bates, and featuring Janet Leigh as Marion Crane, Vera Miles as Lila Crane, and Martin Balsam as Milton Arbogast!
This time, Xan and I discuss things like Xan joining Jesse Jackson and me on Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast to discuss Autons, Psycho being our first Alfred Hitchcock movie, Barbara Bel Geddes on Alfred Hitchcock Presents, screenwriter Josef Stefano writing The Magician pilot and the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "Skin of Evil", Vera Miles in the Twilight Zone episode "Mirror Image" and the Tom Hanks TV movie Mazes and Monsters, Martin Balsam as the original Dr. Rudy Wells in The Six Million Dollar Man pilot, Psycho opening titles designer Saul Bass, Tom Cassidy creeping and hitting on Marion Crane right in front of her boss, Marion switching from her angelic white underwear to her evil black underwear after she steals the $40,000, Marion's epic fail when buying a car, the introduction of Norman Bates, the advancement in suitcase technology, wishing that Anthony Perkins would've worked with David Lynch, Norma Bates being like one of Norman's stuffed birds, Norman keeping up on the dusting, Anthony Perkins making a great Scarecrow in a Batman movie, the famous shower scene, The Simpsons recreating the shower scene, seeing Anne Heche's butthole in the Gus Van Sant remake, Norman's forethought in killing Marion in the bathroom, the awkward moment when Marion's car doesn't sink all the way into the swamp, Xan fixation on California Charlie, the moment when Norman decides to kill Detective Arbogast, the great shot Norman attacking Arbogast from the side, nobody being concerned about Norman's behavior, people freaking out about Cracker Barrel's logo change, Norman Bates taking "Mama's Boy" to a whole other level, the excessive amount of stairs on the Bates property, Norman's wig and dress falling off as he's captured, the anticlimactic scene where the police psychiatrist tries to explain Norman's behavior, "Mother" giving her creepy-ass grin to the audience, new Drunk Mail from Christine Peruski, Xan and I going back to the Grid, and more!
