DRUNK CINEMA 046: "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" Is Up!

"Remember where you are. This is Thunderdome...and death is listening, and will take the first man that screams."
-- Aunty Entity, Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome

Hello again, movie fans!  My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, we pay tribute to the late Tina Turner as we watch Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, the 1985 post-apocalyptic action film directed by George Miller & George Ogilvie, starring Mel Gibson as "Mad" Max Rockatansky, Tina Turner as Aunty Entity, and Bruce Spence as Jedediah!

In this episode, Xan and I discuss things like my finding out I need to have nasal surgery, the passing of Tina Turner, Tina's abusive ex-husband Ike Turner, Tina's "We Don't Need Another Hero" music video, why Beyond Thunderdome doesn't quite work as a Mad Max film, my spiky hairstyle resembling Mad Max's, Mel Gibson being a racist and anti-Semite, Mad Max being like Clint Eastwood's The Man with No Name, Bruce Spence as the Mouth of Sauron in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, Jedediah and the Gyro Captain from The Road Warrior being the same character, Angelo Rossitto as Angeleno in Tod Browning's Freaks, neither of us drinking this time on Drunk Cinema, the original Mad Max film feeling like a prequel, Ironbar's fashion choice to wear a Kabuki mask on a stick on his back, murdered Playboy playmate Dorothy Stratten, Thunderdome's brilliant seating design, Max wearing a giant Auton head from the Doctor Who serial "Terror of the Autons", Max not speaking very often, Max leaving his Mad Max movie in the Second Act for a Lord of the Flies film, Xan wanting a Yeti cooler for the post-apocalypse, Master resembling Dr. Loveless from The Wild Wild West TV series, wondering why the tribe of children left their oasis for a dried-up Sydney harbor, the road to Everything Everywhere All at Once, watching Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade before Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny arrives in theaters, and more!

Be sure to come back in two weeks for Episode 047, as Xan and I watch Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, the 1989 action-adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg, starring Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones, Sean Connery as Henry Jones Sr., Denholm Elliot as Marcus Brody, and John Rhys-Davies as Sallah!
