NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 276: "Mummy on the Orient Express: Revisited" Is Up!

"I couldn't risk Gus finding out my plan and stopping me."
"So, you were…pretending to be heartless?"
"Would you like to think that about me? Would that make it easier? I didn't know if I could save her. I couldn't save Quell, I couldn't save Moorhouse. There was a good chance that she'd die too. At which point, I would have just moved on to the next…and the next, until I beat it. Sometimes, the only choices you have are bad ones, but you still have to choose."
-- The Twelfth Doctor and Clara Oswald, Doctor Who: "Mummy on the Orient Express"

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we're joined by special guest Rachel Frend as we watch "Mummy on the Orient Express", the eighth episode from Doctor Who Series Eight from 2014, featuring Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor, Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, Samuel Anderson as Danny Pink, and Frank Skinner as Perkins!

In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like The Five-ish Fangirls Podcast reaching its 400th episode, Rachel and I looking forward to meeting Jodie Whittaker at GalaxyCon in Columbus, Bruce Springsteen being the Boss of Jesse's bank account, Jesse and I originally discussing "Mummy on the Orient Express" way back in our eighth episode, Rachel's reaction to seeing Colin Baker in "The Power of the Doctor", Peter Capaldi seeming reluctant to return for the 60th Anniversary, the story picking up on a hanging plot thread posed in "The Big Bang", writer Jamie Mathieson looking to Agatha Christie for inspiration, two scenes that were deleted due to timing reasons, other Doctor Who stories using elements of Agatha Christie, this episode being the first time since the 1996 TV Movie that the Doctor offers someone jelly babies, why Rachel wanted to discuss a Twelfth Doctor episode, Rachel and I having actual jelly babies to eat while we watch the episode, Jenna Coleman pulling off Victorian and 1920s attire, the Doctor being bored when there's no active mystery, not recognizing Danny without his Cyberman implants, Frank Skinner being a Doctor Who superfan, Jesse having a traditional English breakfast, wondering what Good Omens 2 will be about, Clara becoming a big liar, Clara being addicted to traveling in the TARDIS, wanting to know what the books are on the Twelfth Doctor's bookcase, various companion exits, Jesse and I coming full circle since our eighth episode, our original ratings, new feedback from Dave Proctor, my joining Rachel on Oscars Gold: The Oscars Podcast to discuss The Silence of the Lambs, Rachel joining me on Drunk Cinema to discuss UHF, Rachel coming back to discuss Out of Time 3: Wink, Jesse and I discussing an entire era of the Doctor in one episode for the first time, and more!
