NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 243: "Horror of Fang Rock" Is Up!

"Your triumph...will be short, Earthling. Our mothership...will blast this island...into molten rock!"
"Empty threats, Rutan! Enjoy your death as I enjoyed killing you!"
-- The Rutan and Leela, Doctor Who: "Horror of Fang Rock"

Hello again, everyone!  My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we discuss Russell T Davies' return as showrunner in 2023, along with "Horror of Fang Rock", the first serial from Doctor Who Season 15 in 1977, featuring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Louise Jameson as Leela, Colin Douglas as Reuben, and Alan Rowe as Colonel Skinsale!

In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like Bruce Springsteen and Sting's birthdays, special guest companion John Takacs not being able to join us for this episode, Russell T Davies being announced as the replacement showrunner for Doctor Who in 2023, J. Michael Straczynski rebooting Babylon 5, the pros and cons of Russell T Davies returning, Jesse and I leaving Southgate Media Group and helping form Wonderful & Strange Productions, writer Terrance Dicks being inspired by Wilfred Gibson's 1912 poem Flannan Isle and Ray Bradbury's 1951 short story "The Fog Horn", "Horror of Fang Rock" being a replacement for Terrance Dick's cancelled "The Vampire Mutations", why Louise Jameson stopped wearing her brown contacts at the end of this story, the scene where Leela slaps Adelaide to stop her screaming, a scene in Part 3 being crucial to the behind-the-scenes relationship between Louise Jameson and Tom Baker, Tom Baker beginning an on/off relationship with the editor of "Horror of Fang Rock", Leela not being stupid even though she's a "savage", Leela's frustration with Adelaide, Leela's change in eye pigmentation and her request to have the Doctor kill her because she was blinded, the self-absorbed yacht survivors, Lord Palmerdale being desperate to reach the stock exchange in London to use insider trading information provided by Colonel Skinsale, Colonel Skinsale calling Lord Palmerdale when Palmerdale tries to blackmail him, why Vince burned his bribe money from Lord Palmerdale, wondering if the Doctor intentionally scattered the other diamonds for greedy Colonel Skinsale to pickup, "Horror of Fang Rock"'s extremely high body count, Reuben being superstitious and dismissive of electricity, "Horror of Fang Rock" being the only on-screen appearance of the Rutans, the Rutans wanting to established a beachhead on Earth in the neverending war with the Sontarans, our favorite quotes of the episode, my Reverse the Reverse the Polarity segment, new feedback from Dave Proctor and Holly Mac, DJ Nik joining Xan Sprouse and me on Drunk Cinema to discuss Alien, Holly Mac returning to discuss "The Runaway Bride" as a Revisited commentary, and more!
