CW Developing SUPERGIRL Spinoff SUPERMAN & LOIS

Looks like Henry Cavill won't be suiting up again as Superman anytime soon.

The Hollywood Reporter has word that The CW is developing Superman & Lois, a new Arrowverse series starring Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch as their respective Supergirl characters Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane.

According to the article, Superman & Lois will focus on "the world's most famous superhero and comics' most famous journalist as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society."  This description hints that their son in the comics, Jon Kent, may be featured as well.

Former The Flash showrunner Todd Helbing will write the script and serve as executive producer for the potential series.  In March, Helbing stepped down as showrunner on The Flash to focus on developing Superman & Lois.

This is the second Arrowverse spinoff in development at The CW for the 2020-21 TV season, after the proposed Arrow spinoff Green Arrow and the Canaries starring Katherine McNamara as Mia Smoak/Green Arrow, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance/Black Canary and Juliana Harkavy as Dinah Drake/Black Canary.

Hoechlin, 32, made his Arrowverse debut as Superman in the 2016 Supergirl episode "The Adventures of Supergirl".  He's also known as Derek Hale on the MTV series Teen Wolf and also appeared in the films Fifty Shades Darker, Fifty Shades Freed, Everybody Wants Some!!, Solstice, and Road to Perdition.  In addition, he's appeared on episodes of the TV series Castle, Lincoln Heights, CSI: Miami, and 7th Heaven.

Tulloch, 38, made her Arrowverse debut as Lois Lane in the 2018 The Flash episode "Elseworlds, Part 1".  She's also known as Juliette Silverton/Eve on the NBC series Grimm, has appeared in the films Concussion and The Artist, and on episodes of Portlandia, Tyranny, Outlaw, Moonlight, House, Cold Case, and The West Wing.

Hoechlin's Superman and Tulloch's Lois Lane will next appear in the upcoming CW crossover event, "Crisis on Infinite Earths", which begins with Supergirl on December 8, 2019.
