DUNE: THE SISTERHOOD Casts Emily Watson & Shirley Henderson as the Harkonnen Sisters


The next Age of Reason will not come easily in this time of magical beliefs and superstitious fear.

Deadline is reporting that the upcoming HBO Max series Dune: The Sisterhood, based on the novel Sisterhood of Dune by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson, has cast Emily Watson and Shirley Henderson as sisters Valya Harkonnen and Tula Harkonnen, respectively.

According to the article, the series "is set 10,000 years before the ascension of Paul Atreides and follows the Harkonnen Sisters as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind, and establish the fabled sect known as the Bene Gesserit."

Diane Ademu-John will serve as creator, writer, co-showrunner and executive producer for Dune: The Sisterhood, with Alison Schapker serving as co-showrunner and executive producer. Johan Renck will direct the first episode and executive produce. Denis Villeneuve, director of the 2021 Dune film, is executive producing with Jon Spaihts, Scott Z. Burns, Matthew King, John Cameron and Cait Collins, along with Brian Herbert while Kevin J. Anderson will be a co-producer.

Watson, 55, is an English actress who has appeared in the films Gosford Park, Red Dragon, Equilibrium, Corpse Bride, War Horse, The Theory of Everything, and Kingsman: The Golden Circle.

Henderson, 56, is a Scottish actress best known as Moaning Myrtle in the Harry Potter films and as the voice of Babu Frik in the film Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. In addition, she's appeared as Ursula Blake in the Doctor Who episode "Love & Monsters" and has appeared in the films Rob Roy, Trainspotting, Bridget Jones' Diary, and Marie Antoinette.
