NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 135: "The Invisible Enemy" is Up!

"K-9's breaking up, my blaster's finished...What are we going to do?"
"Should we try using our intelligence?"
"Well, if you think that's a good idea..."
-- Leela and The Fourth Doctor, Doctor Who: "The Invisible Enemy"

This time, special guest companion Jo Karelja joins me for a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast, as we  discuss "The Invisible Enemy", the second serial from Doctor Who Season 15 in 1977, featuring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Louise Jameson as Leela, Frederick Jaeger as Professor Marius, and the introduction of K-9, voiced by John Leeson!

In this episode, Jo and I discuss things like me butchering Jo's last name, Jo becoming a Doctor Who fan, Jo going back to the classic era after burning through the modern era, why Jo chose "The Invisible Enemy", both of us seeing the original Star Wars movie in the theaters, the 1966 science fiction movie Fantastic Voyage, why K-9 became an official companion, Jo watching early K-9 episodes after watching "School Reunion", writers Bob Baker and Dave Martin putting down Leela's intelligence, Tom Baker and Louise Jameson's on-screen chemistry with one another, the Doctor taking credit for Leela's idea to blow up the Titan base, wondering how the clones of the Doctor and Leela breathed while being injected into the real Doctor's bloodstream, Leela quickly bonding with K-9, Professor Marius calling the Doctor "one of those good-for-nothing spaceniks", K-9 having ticker tape sticking out of his mouth, wondering how the Nucleus of the Swarm was able to take control over K-9, fans coming up with head canon, the Nucleus looking like a giant space prawn, the Nucleus not being able to walk without assistance, Lowe going as fast as he can and then turning a dial to go even faster, the DVD release's improved special effects option, the Doctor's exception to not killing the Nucleus, the year 5000's strange phonetic spelling and the importance of grammar, the future's uncomfortable slab-shaped hospital beds, our favorite lines of the episode, my Reverse the Reverse the Polarity segment, some feedback from Holly from Wisconsin, Paul from Australia and John Takacs, contact being made, and more!
