DRUNK CINEMA 102: "Legend" Is Up!

"You think you have won! What is light without dark? What are you without me? I am a part of you all. You can never defeat me. We are brothers eternal!"
-- Darkness, Legend

Hello again, movie fans!  My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, Xan and I pay tribute to Tim Curry as we watch Legend, the 1985 dark fantasy adventure film directed by Ridley Scott, featuring Tom Cruise as Jack, Mia Sara as Lili, Tim Curry as Darkness, and David Bennent as Honeythorn Gump!

This time, Xan and I discuss things like my unfamiliarity with British sitcom Toast of London, some background on Tim Curry's stroke and his later death, Xan listening to Tim Curry's memoir Vagabond, Xan setting aside her hatred of Tom Cruise movies to pay tribute to Tim Curry, Maverick being a better Top Gun movie, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr.'s version of the Mission: Impossible theme, Star Trek: Voyager's Robert Picardo as Meg Mucklebones, the poor marketing for the film, Xan being my Apple consultant, Arnon Milchan and Terry Gilliam not liking each other, Mia Sara stealing laundry, goblins being up to no fucking good, why you shouldn't try to touch a unicorn, everything having glitter, Screwball and Brown Tom being the comic relief, Hellboy duking it out with Darkness, Lili going into her Goth phase, Darkness' bouncy horns, new Drunk Mail from Christine Peruski, my upcoming story for DC's Naughty List Christmas anthology, Xan and I heading back into Spooky Season, and more!

NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 380: "Lionesses in Winter" Is Up!

"It...is a day...of impossibilities!"
"Welcome to the TARDIS. Any questions?"
"All of them!"
-- The Thirteenth Doctor and Alys, Doctor Who: "Lionesses in Winter"

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back for another new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we're joined by special guest Holly Mac as we discuss "Lionesses in Winter", the third audio drama from Big Finish Productions' Doctor Who: The Thirteenth Doctor Adventures range, featuring Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor and Mandip Gill as Yasmin "Yaz" Khan!

In this episode, Jesse, Holly and I discuss things like Jesse celebrating Bruce Springsteen's birthday, Jesse getting some great news that he's in full remission, Holly starting off the new school year, a Next Stop News Flash about Doctor Who officially being put out to tender for competitive bidding, Big Finish slowing down their production releases, Dr. Hannibal Lecter and James Bond appearing in the 1968 film The Lion in Winter, Holly getting "The Chimes of Midnight" vibes from this story, King Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine, Jodie and Yasmin settling back into their characters more, the Plantagenets being a dysfunctional family, Alys deciding that she's had enough drama in her life, Alys' "bigger on the inside" reaction scene, smelling salts that turn your nostrils inside out, The Doctor and Yaz wearing balaclavas, the twist from writer Lisa McMullin that Mirror Henry is possessed, the parasite's threat to take over the Doctor's body sometime in the future, what happens to Eleanor of Aquitaine after the events in this story, our favorite quotes of the episode, my Reverse the Reverse the Polarity segment, some news on my story for DC Comics' upcoming Christmas anthology DC's Naughty List, starting our five-episode Sarahthon, and more!
