NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 326: "Frontios" Is Up!

"I'm not helping you, officially. And if anyone happens to ask whether I made any material difference to the welfare of this planet, you can tell them I came and went like a summer cloud."
-- The Fifth Doctor, Doctor Who: "Frontios"

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back for another new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we discuss "Frontios", the third serial from Doctor Who Season 21 in 1984, featuring Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor, Janet Fielding as Tegan Jovanka, Mark Strickson as Vislor Turlough, and Lesley Dunlop as Norna!

In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like the Cleveland Guardians making the MLB playoffs, writer Christopher H. Bidmead using big science fiction ideas, "Frontios" being the serial where Peter Davison thought he finally found his Doctor, Lesley Dunlop as Nora in David Lynch's The Elephant Man, Jeff Rawle as Meryn Pinfield in An Adventure in Space and Time, the Tractators being inspired by woodlice that infested Christopher H. Bidmead's home, the two tragic deaths that affected the production of "Frontios", a story idea considered too gruesome for the serial, the cliffhanger at the end of Part 4 being originally written for Part 2 of "The King's Demons", the tabloids reporting that the TARDIS was going to be permanently removed from the show, Colin Baker being announced as the Sixth Doctor during "Frontios" rehearsals, the TARDIS being destroyed by a meteor shower, Tegan walking around underground caverns while wearing high heels, the Fifth Doctor tricking the Gravis into reassembling the TARDIS, Tegan creating more problems for the Doctor while trying to help, Turlough overcoming his own cowardice, Jesse crushing on Norna, Plantagenet not living up to his father's reputation, Norna not waiting for someone to free her from being tied up, the Doctor dumping the Gravis off on an uninhabited planet, our favorite quotes of the episode, my Reverse the Reverse the Polarity segment, new listener feedback from Dave Proctor, and Holly Mac, Jesse joining me and Xan Sprouse on Drunk Cinema, and more!
