DRUNK CINEMA 039: "Some Like It Hot" Is Up!

"But you don't understand, Osgood! I’m a man!"
"Well...nobody's perfect!"
-- Jerry and Osgood Fielding III, Some Like It Hot

Hello again, movie fans!  My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, we watch Some Like It Hotthe 1959 crime comedy directed by Billy Wilder, featuring Marilyn Monroe as Sugar "Kane" Kowalczyk, Tony Curtis as Joe/"Josephine", and Jack Lemmon as Jerry/"Daphne"!

In this episode, Xan and I discuss things like Xan forgetting to crash my Five Guys Friday, Xan passing out whenever she watches Dune (1984), Xan and I narrowing our non-traditional romance movie down to Some Like It Hot and On Her Majesty's Secret Service, Xan not buying that Shirley MacLaine could fall in love with Fred MacMurray, Double Indemnity being the best noir film, Some Like It Hot being nominated for 6 Oscars but only winning for Best Costume Design Black-and-White, the Netflix documentary The Pez Outlaw, 1929 being an important year, Jerry needing to not let Joe gamble his money away, Jerry and Joe learning that their only available gig is for women only, "Spats" Columbo loving too many double negative sentences, the Hays Motion Picture Production Code, Marilyn Monroe being a pain in the ass to work with, Jack Lemmon being a better woman than Tony Curtis, Tom Hanks and Peter Scolari in Bosom Buddies, our PSA for safety locks on doors, my hooking Christine Peruski up with a Starbucks gift card, Xan listening to the Rifftrax version of Titanic while rewatching Titanic in the theater, trying to get Xan back on Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast, bourbon-soaked cherries, Yellow Submarine being the Beatles' third contractually-obligated movie, and more!
