DRUNK CINEMA 038: "Mad Max: Fury Road" Is Up!

"Oh, what a day! What a lovely day!"
-- Nux, Mad Max: Fury Road

Hello again, movie fans!  My wonderful co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, we watch Mad Max: Fury Roadthe 2015 post-apocalyptic action film directed by George Miller, featuring Tom Hardy as "Mad" Max Rockatansky, Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa, Nicholas Hoult as Nux, and Hugh Keays-Byrne as Immortan Joe!

In this episode, Xan and I discuss things like my having a long day since 5 a.m., wondering why we're not recording An American Werewolf in London instead during the full moon, Mad Max: Fury Road getting nominated for Best Picture, Anya Taylor-Joy taking over for Charlize Theron in the upcoming Furiosa prequel, my conviction that Immortan Joe was going to be revealed as being played by Mel Gibson when I watched Fury Road in the theater, Xan being freaked out by the airplane gremlin in Twilight Zone: The Movie, George Miller directing all of the Mad Max movies, Fury Road co-writer and comic book artist Brendan McCarthy, Tom Hardy as Shinzon in Star Trek: Nemesis, Charlize Theron as serial killer Aileen Wuornos in Monster, Xan needing to break her rule against Tom Cruise movies to watch Top Gun: Maverick, Abbey Lee in Lovecraft Country, wondering why Charlize Theron didn't get a Best Actress nomination, over 80% of the effects in Fury Road being practical effects, Xan wanting an Immortan Joe face mask, Xan theory that Immortan Joe and Toecutter are the same character, George Miller stepping up his game since Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, car buffs and gearheads loving Fury Road, waiting for Mad Max to get that cage mask off of his face, Cheedo the Fragile being an abuse victim too afraid to leave Immortan Joe, why Tom Hardy should know that Charlize Theron stole his movie from him, Xan telling Virginia Hey from Farscape her name, the War Boys having Cirque du Soliel performers, my love for the Doof Warrior, our needing to figure out what movie we're watching next on Drunk Cinema, and more!
