NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 275: "The Power of the Doctor" Is Up!

"That's the only sad thing, I wanna know what happens next. Right then, Doctor Whoever-I'm-About-To-Be...Tag, you're it..."
-- The Thirteenth Doctor, Doctor Who: "The Power of the Doctor"

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we discuss "The Power of the Doctor", the 2022 Doctor Who Centenary Special, featuring the final story of Jodie Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor, Mandip Gill as Yasmin "Yaz" Khan, John Bishop as Dan Lewis, and the return of Janet Fielding as Tegan Jovanka and Sophie Aldred as Ace!

In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like finishing our second complete Doctor era from start to finish, "The Power of the Doctor" being a good story made great by the character moments, "The Power of the Doctor" being Chris Chibnall's version of "The Stolen Earth/Journey's End" and "The Day of the Doctor", giving Chris Chibnall props for bringing back so many classic era Doctors and companions, William Russell returning to the role of Ian Chesterton after 57 years, David Tennant being the new Fourteenth Doctor and Ncuti Gatwa becoming the Fifteenth Doctor, some 60th anniversary news, Disney+ becoming the exclusive home for new seasons of Doctor Who, the return of Ashad the Lone Cyberman, Ace's aluminum baseball bat being a reference to "Remembrance of the Daleks", Tegan and Ace meeting the Master again, what past elements comprised the Master's wardrobe as the Doctor, why the Master played "The Skye Boat Song" on the Second Doctor's recorder, the reference to Croydon from "The Hand of Fear", "The Power of the Doctor" becoming the third-longest single episode made for television, Jodie Whittaker being preggers with her second child while filming the episode, our thoughts on Jodie Whittaker in her final story, Chris Chibnall finally letting Jodie Whittaker slow down as the Doctor, the Modern Era Doctors being able to hold off their regenerations, the classic era Doctors being the Guardians of the Edge in the Doctor's subconscious, the previous Doctors approving of the Thirteenth Doctor to join the Former Doctors Club, the Master not recognizing the Fugitive Doctor, Jesse appreciating the classic era companions more because of our various reviews over the years, Chris Chibnall using our idea for the Companion Support Group, Janet Fielding and Sophie Aldred finally getting their names shown in the opening credits, Tegan and Ace getting some closure with their respective Doctors, Kate finally getting to do the "bigger on the inside" line, Yaz deciding to leave the TARDIS instead of staying to watch the Doctor regenerate, Jodie Whittaker's era being bookended by trains, Dan's decision to leave the TARDIS before he gets killed, the Master's Dalek Plan, more of Sacha Dhawan's Master behaving like the Joker, the Master dancing around to "Rasputin" by Boney M., Russell T Davies probably being happy that Chris Chibnall got rid of Gallifrey again, wondering why the Doctor's clothes regenerated along with the Doctor, the overall strategic plan for bringing David Tennant back for the three 60th anniversary specials, the early differences between the Tenth and Fourteenth Doctors, our favorite quotes of the episode, my Reverse the Polarity segment, new feedback from Dave Proctor and Holly Mac, Rachel Frend returning to discuss another Doctor that isn't Colin Baker, and more!
