THE FANDOM ZONE 253: "24/7" Is Up!

"The truth is a cleansing fire which burns away the lies we've told each other and the lies we've told ourselves. So that love and hate, pleasure and pain, can all be expressed without shame. Where there is no good or bad...there is only the truth."
-- John Dee, The Sandman -- "24/7"

Hello again, everyone! It's time for another new episode of The Fandom Zone Podcast!  In this episode, DJ Nik and I joined by special guest Heather Bedor to discuss "24/7", the fifth episode of The Sandman, featuring David Thewlis as John Dee, and "The People Vs. Emil Blonsky", the third episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, featuring the return of Benedict Wong as Wong!

In this episode, DJ Nik, Heather and I talk about things like Nik being a wee bit grumpy, Heather's love of "24/7", Nik tormenting his baby sister, normal people not murdering people at random, more of the Sandman TV series withholding violence from the original comics and also some of the dark humor, David Thewlis' Ares being underwritten in the Wonder Woman movie, John Dee having very childlike tormenting behavior toward the diner patrons, "24/7" feeling like a Twilight Zone episode, David Thewlis deserving an Emmy nomination for his performance as John Dee, "24/7" being representative of the present problem of social etiquette norms being replaced with unfiltered aggression, why you should run if you see David Thewlis in a restaurant, knowing just enough about the diner patrons as characters to tell the story, that awkward moment when Bette finds out the guy she's interested in has been banging her adult son instead, creative types wanting the things they create to be appreciated by people, more of why Nik needs to finish watching The Sandman, Nik being a Greek mythology buff, Arkham Asylum being the Institution That Shall Not Be Named, my first reaction to Mason Alexander Park as Desire, our favorite Sandman quotes, why She-Hulk: Attorney at Law is a superhero version of Boston Legal, some comics background on the Wrecking Crew, that awkward moment when Wong admits to the crime of breaking the Abomination out of prison, the greatness of Benedict Wong as Wong, wondering what happens next to the Abomination, all of us hating the subplot with Dennis and Runa the Light Elf, the introduction of the Wrecking Crew into the MCU, my wondering if the Wrecking Crew are working for the Leader, Nik getting Episode 4 spoiled for him, our favorite She-Hulk quotes, new Fandom Zone Fanmail from Holly Mac, a quick reminder about my upcoming story for DC's Terror Through Time #1, wondering if Heather will be back next week, and more!
