Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we discuss "The Ark in Space", the second serial from Doctor Who Season 12 in 1975, featuring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith, Ian Marter as Harry Sullivan, and Wendy Williams as Vira!

In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like my surprise that we haven't already covered this story by now, male chauvinist Harry Sullivan being paired up against women's libber Sarah Jane Smith, Robert Holmes being the best writer from the classic era, why Robert Holmes rewrote John Lucarotti's original script, what was featured in Lucarotti's script, the BBC forcing Robert Holmes to kill off the Wirrn instead of allowing for a possible sequel story, the cut scene of Noah begging Vira to kill him, "The Ark in Space" being very similar to Ridley Scott's 1979 film Alien, Part Two being the highest-rated episode of the series' original run, finding out who made the Fourth Doctor's scarf for him, Sarah Jane getting a raw deal in the first half of the story, the Fourth Doctor insulting Sarah Jane to motivate her to become unstuck from the conduit, the Fourth Doctor getting Harry to sacrifice his shoes to disable the automatic sentry system, the references to Noah's Ark from the Bible, the casual mention that Vira and Noah were "pair-bonded" as a couple, Noah's struggle to maintain his humanity before fully transforming into a Wirrn, mint being an invasive garden plant, the Wirrn wanting payback against humanity for being displaced as a species, whether Noah intentionally led the Wirrn onto the shuttle so they could be destroyed, our favorite quotes of the episode, my Reverse the Reverse the Polarity segment, new feedback from Holly from Wisconsin, Sandi from Oregon and Dave Proctor, our upcoming discussion of "The King's Demons", and more!
