NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 264: "The Chase" Is Up!

"Barbara, we made it!"
"I don't believe it!"
"London 1965!"
"Hey, we're two years out."
"Oh, what's two years amongst friends! We're home!"
-- Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright, Doctor Who: "The Chase"

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we discuss "The Chase", the eighth serial from Doctor Who Season 2 in 1965, featuring William Hartnell as the First Doctor, Maureen O'Brien as Vicki, the introduction of Peter Purves as Steven Taylor, and the departures of William Russell as Ian Chesterton & Jacqueline Hill as Barbara Wright!

In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like Jesse celebrating his birthday and breaking the internet, The Chase quiz show, Peter Purves as Alabama hayseed Morton Dill, Jesse's updated position on Daleks, why William Russell and Jacqueline Hill left Doctor Who, Peter Purves' performance as Morton Dill getting him the gig as new companion Steven Taylor, "The Chase" production budget stealing from "The Space Museum" and "The Time Meddler", other story alternatives to the planet Aridius, the original plan to feature the Beatles dressed as old men in a fictional 50th anniversary concert, the Beatles footage of "Ticket to Ride" being removed from DVD releases outside of the UK and Australia, the "London 1965" internet meme, how Ian and Barbara had money for the bus in London 1965, Vicki convincing the Doctor to help Ian and Barbara finally get home, how we would react if we saw a real British police box, the brief stop at the Empire State Building, the android versions of Dracula and Frankenstein in 1996 Ghana, the awkward moment when everyone forgets about Vicki and the TARDIS dematerializes without her, the android First Doctor's fatal mistake, the Mechonoids as another attempt to create something as popular and merchandisable as the Daleks, Steven almost letting Vicki fall from a tall building in order to save his stuffed panda Hi-Fi, our favorite quotes of the episode, my quick Reverse the Polarity segment, new feedback from Holly from Wisconsin, Sandi from Oregon and Dave Proctor, finally getting to discuss what happened after the cliffhanger at the end of "The Dominators", and more!
