GOTHAM KNIGHTS TV Series in Development at The CW

Just in case you were worried that there aren't enough Batman TV projects in development...

Variety is reporting that a Batman-related TV series titled Gotham Knights is in development for The CW, from Batwoman writers Natalie Abrams, James Stoteraux, and Chad Fiveash. Stoteraux and Fiveash are executive producers on the show, with Abrams co-executive producing. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden of Berlanti Productions will also executive produce.

According to the article, Gotham Knights will not be a spinoff from Batwoman, nor is it related to the upcoming Gotham Knights videogame. The synopsis for the show's premise states, "In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights."

"His rebellious adopted son" seems to hint at Jason Todd, the former second Robin, who currently fights crime as Red Hood. The character recently appeared in the HBO Max series Titans, played by Curran Walters.

Fiveash and Stoteraux are currently executive producers on Batwoman, which is currently in its third season. Their other credits include Gotham, Krypton, and The Vampire Diaries. Abrams has written for Batwoman, Supergirl, and All American.

In addition to Batwoman, Berlanti Productions currently produces DC Comics TV shows The Flash, Superman and Lois, Stargirl, and Legends of Tomorrow for The CW.
