DRUNK CINEMA 017: "The Omen (1976)" Is Up!

"Look at me, Damien! It's all for you!"
-- Holly the Nanny, The Omen (1976)

Hey there, movie fans!  My wonderful & strange co-host Xan Sprouse and I are back with a new episode of Drunk Cinema! This time, we celebrate Drunk Cinema’s 1st anniversary and watch The Omen, the 1976 supernatural horror film directed by Richard Donner and featuring Gregory Peck as Robert Thorn, Lee Remick as Katherine Thorn, Harvey Stephens as Damien Thorn, David Warner as Keith Jennings, and Patrick Troughton as Father Brennan!

In this episode, Xan and I discuss things like planning our next episode, the first anniversary of Drunk Cinema, Richard Donner being anti-fur and directing the Twilight Zone classic "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet", Gregory Peck being the grandfather of Ethan Peck, the passing of Gavan O'Herlihy, David Warner as Thomas Eckhardt on Twin Peaks and as Professor Grisenko on Doctor Who, Harvey Stephens returning for The Omen (2006), Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor and Salamander on Doctor Who, Mr. Solo getting killed by Oddjob in Goldfinger, Leo McKern as Number Two on The Prisoner and in the Beatles movie Help!, Jerry Goldsmith's "Ave Satini" losing Best Original Song to "Evergreen (Love Theme to A Star Is Born)", my wife Lori pointing out that Xan only goes to movie theaters with bars, Bloom County's Berkeley Breathed sending a strip to Gregory Peck, paparazzi photos of Holly the Nanny hanging from the roof, Damien freaking the hell out in the car on the way to a church, Katherine being an absent mother, The Event Horizon being a train wreck you can't help but watch, Damien hating giraffes, Father Brennan regenerating into Jon Pertwee after he dies, the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame voters not digging metal bands, Bible quotations in The Omen that aren't in The Bible, wondering why Robert Thorn and Keith Jennings investigated the cemetery at night instead of during the daytime, Gregory Peck finally showing emotion, Robert Thorn deserving partial credit for trying to kill the antichrist, William Holden turning down The Omen because he didn't want to appear in a film about the devil but agreeing to appear in Damien: Omen II, alternate casting for Robert Thorn, and more!
