NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 237: "Return of the Cybermen" Is Up!

"A scratch, you say? Now, where's my 500 Year Diary?"
"You keep a diary?"
"Well, I live a fascinating life. I should publish, the reviews will be sensational..."
-- The Fourth Doctor and Sarah Jane Smith, Doctor Who: "Return of the Cybermen"

Hello again, everyone! It's time for a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast!  This time, I'm joined by special guest companion John Takacs as we discuss "Return of the Cybermen", the first audio drama from Big Finish Productions' Doctor Who: The Lost Stories Series Six in 2021, featuring Tom Baker as the Fourth Doctor, Sadie Miller as Sarah Jane Smith, and Christopher Naylor as Harry Sullivan!

In this episode, John and I discuss things like John being one of the all-time favorite special guest companions, Robert Holmes rewriting Gerry Davis' original script for the televised "Revenge of the Cybermen", John having a copy of the January 1992 Doctor Who Bulletin magazine with Gerry Davis' script, Sadie Miller voicing her mother Elisabeth Sladen's character Sarah Jane Smith, Gerry Davis' "Return" script having a more timid Doctor like Patrick Troughton's Second Doctor, Big Finish writer John Dorney originally attempting to resolve the conflicting accounts between "Return" and "Revenge", the Time Lord messenger from "Genesis of the Daleks", changes between "Return" and "Revenge", Daisy Ashford taking over her mother Caroline John's role as Liz Shaw, John being a lover of "Revenge of the Cybermen" and still having the Warner Home Video VHS copy, the quick adjustment to hearing Sadie Miller as Sarah Jane Smith and Christopher Naylor as Harry Sullivan, Sarah Jane and the Fourth Doctor pigging out on the food they find on Nerva Station, the Fourth Doctor going back to his 500 Year Diary and not remembering Cybermats, Big Finish offering digital downloads even if you purchase the CD versions, Kellman trying to dump the attempted murders of the Doctor and his companions on Anitra, Kellman always trying to throw the Doctor and his companions under the bus, the awkward moment when Kellman gets exposed as the murderer of Coetzee's son, the Cybermen volunteering to die to destroy the asteroid filled with gold, everyone being surprised for some reason that the Cybermen broke their deal, John having the Seal of Rassilon tattooed on his arm, our favorite quotes of the story, my Reverse the Polarity segment, new feedback from Holly Mac and Megan on Facebook, Daleks' Invasion Earth 2150 A.D. being John's first Doctor Who exposure, DJ Nik joining Xan Sprouse and me on the 100th episode of Ghostwood: The Twin Peaks Podcast, and more!
