NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 233: "Closing Time" Is Up!

"The Cybermen...They blew up! I blew them up with love!"
"No, that's impossible. And also grossly sentimental and over-simplistic. You destroyed them because of the deeply-ingrained hereditary human trait to protect one's own genes. Which in turn triggered a... a...um…Yeah. Love. You blew them up with love."
-- Craig Owens and the Eleventh Doctor, Doctor Who: "Closing Time"

Hello again, everyone!  I'm back with a new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast!  This time, I'm joined by special guest companion Holly Mac from The Five-ish Fangirls Podcast to discuss "Closing Time", the twelfth episode from Doctor Who Series Six in 2011, featuring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, the return of the Cybermen and James Corden as Craig Owens, and Stormageddon, Dark Lord of All!

In this episode, Holly and I discuss things like Jesse Jackson making it through his surgery, the Semisonic song "Closing Time", the incarnations of the Doctor that would be happy working in a toy store, where "Closing Time" fits on the River Song timeline, the return of the Cybermats in the modern era, 200 years passing for the Doctor after the events of "The God Complex", the Eleventh Doctor recycling his dislike for Craig's "redecorated" house, Amy appearing in an ad for Petrichor perfume, why Daisy Haggard only returned in a brief cameo as Sophie, the Eleventh Doctor's Farewell Tour, Craig feeling completely out of his depth as Alfie's father, the Doctor helping Craig get his life on track again, the Doctor amping Alfie's starry mobile up to eleven, Val assuming that the Doctor and Craig are a couple, the Doctor trying to distract Craig from the Cybermen by coming on to him, Alfie's cry triggering Craig so he doesn't become converted into a Cyberman, Bitey the Cybermat, the epilogue where Madame Kovarian and the Silence kidnap Doctor River Song, the revelation that River is the one in the astronaut suit that kills the Doctor, our favorite quotes of the episode, my Reverse the Polarity segment, new feedback from Dave Proctor, the big surprise announcement of who's joining me to discuss "The Girl in the Fireplace", and more!
