NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 159: "Terror of the Autons" is Up!

"You've come here to kill me, of course."
"But not without considerable regret."
"How very comforting."
"You see, Doctor, you're my intellectual equal.  Almost.  I have so few worthy opponents. When they've gone, I always miss them."
-- The Third Doctor and The First Master, Doctor Who: "Terror of the Autons"

Hello again, everyone!  My Ghostwood: The Twin Peaks Podcast co-host with the most Xan Sprouse returns to Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast to help me discuss "Terror of the Autons", the first serial from Doctor Who Season 8 in 1971, starring Jon Pertwee as the Third Doctor, and introducing Katy Manning as Jo Grant, Roger Delgado as The Master, and Richard Franklin as Captain Mike Yates!

In this episode, Xan and I discuss things like Doctor Who writer Robert Holmes, Xan being an Autons fan, Jesse ducking me on discussing "Terror of the Autons", our big 150th episode of Next Stop Everywhere, Xan talking Doctor Who stories set at circuses, Roger Delgado being a discount Terence Stamp, the Master ruining Doctor Who pinball, Geoffrey Holder signing 7-Up bottles at conventions, the Master being created as the Professor Moriarty to the Doctor's Sherlock Holmes, the British press freaking the hell out about Auton dolls and police officers scaring kids, Jo Grant's introduction, the Doctor warming to Jo because she disobeyed orders, Mike Yates being the "middle management" between the Brigadier and Sgt. Benton, the Brigadier being the Third Doctor's entry pass into secure places, Nicholas Courtney being one of the best straight men ever, the Master messing with an entire family for fun, the Doctor liking the idea of the Master being out there to encounter again, running down the Master's on-screen regenerations, Xan not liking the 1996 Doctor Who TV movie, the Autons invading Funko figures, Xan loving the movie Mannequin, our favorite quotes of the episode, wondering where all the Autons were in "Terror of the Autons", feeling bad for Tiny Gooch, my Reverse the Reverse the Polarity segmentnew feedback from Holly Mac, HBO's new Watchmen series, and more!
