During last night's episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ben Affleck stopped by to debut the new trailer for Zack Snyder's upcoming DC Comics film Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The three-minute trailer revealed a good amount of new footage, along with the first look at the long-rumored appearance of Superman villain Doomsday.
Opening with Daily Planet reporter Clark Kent (Henry Cavill) covering a charity event, Clark sees Bruce Wayne for the first time as he steps out of his car. Clark meets up with Bruce inside the gala, asking him "What's your position on the Bat vigilante in Gotham?" Bruce gives Clark a small smile.
The tone quickly shifts, as Clark confronts Bruce about growing tension in Gotham City. "Civil liberties are being trampled on in your city," Clark remarks. "People are living in fear. He thinks he's above the law."
"The Daily Planet criticizing those who think they're above the law is a little hypocritical, wouldn't you say?" replies Bruce as we see shots of a giant Superman statue in Metropolis along with Superman rescuing the manned capsule of an exploding orbital rocket as it's about to launch and victims of a severe flood trapped on their roofs. "Considering every time your hero saves a cat out of a tree, you write a puff-piece editorial...about an alien who could burn the whole place down."
"Most of the world doesn't share your opinion, Mr. Wayne," counters Clark.
"Maybe it's the Gotham City in me," Bruce says as we see an empty Robin costume vandalized with graffiti by the Joker. "We have a bad history with freaks dressed like clowns."
All of the sudden, the confrontation is interrupted by Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), sporting long red hair. "Boys!" exclaims Luthor. "Bruce Wayne meets Clark Kent! Hah! I love it! I love bringing people together!" Luthor shakes both of their hands, wincing a bit as he shakes Clark's. "Ow, wow! That is a good grip!" he says, looking over at Bruce. "You should not pick a fight with this person!"
We see a quick glimpse of a possible dream sequence as Superman arrives in a tunnel with armed guards kneeling before him. The scene shifts to Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., with a group of xenophobic protestors holding up signs like "God hates aliens" and "Superman = Illegal Alien."
Inside, Lex speaks to Senator Finch (Holly Hunter), presumable about Superman. "You know the oldest lie in America, Senator?" he asks. "It's that power can be innocent."
The trailer music grows more epic and operatic, as Alfred Pennyworth (Jeremy Irons) speaks with Bruce. "You're gonna go to war," as we see that Bruce was in Metropolis during the superbrawl between Superman and General Zod in Man of Steel.
"That son of a bitch brought the war to us," Bruce remarks in his Batman voice.
"You know you can't win this," Alfred says, as we see Superman and Batman facing off. "It's suicide."
"The greatest gladiator match in the history of the world," remarks Luthor in a voiceover. "The Son of Krypton vs. Bat of Gotham."
"You're psychotic," says Lois Lane (Amy Adams) as we see that she's standing with Luthor.
"That's a three-syllable word for any thought too big for little minds."
As Superman and Batman continuing battling one another, Batman remarks, "It's time you learned what it means to be a man."
"Stay down!" shouts Superman. "If I wanted it, you'd be dead already!"
We then see Tao Okamoto as Luthor's assistant, Mercy Graves, leading two military personnel, who are pushing the corpse of General Zod (Michael Shannon) into Lex's waiting arms. "If man won't kill God," quips Luthor as it appears as though he's turning Zod's corpse into Doomsday, "the Devil will do it."
Batman expresses a colorful metaphor as Doomsday unleashes a huge blast of energy that destroys a chunk of Gotham City. However, Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) suddenly arrives to stand together with Batman and Superman against Doomsday.
"She with you?" asks Superman.
"I thought she was with you," Batman replies.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to arrive in theaters on March 25, 2016.
