First TRON: ARES Teaser Trailer Has Programs Go Off the Grid

Ready? 'Cause there's no going back.

Disney has released the first teaser trailer for Tron: Ares, the long-awaited sequel to 1982's Tron and 2010's Tron: Legacy, directed by Joachim Rønning and starring Jared Leto as Ares, Greta Lee as Eve Kim, Evan Peters as Julian Dillinger, and returning Tron actor Jeff Bridges reprising his role of Kevin Flynn once again.

Tron: Ares follows a highly sophisticated program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humans' first encounter with A.I. beings.

The 90-second trailer opens at night with an overhead shot of an unknown city, showcasing the streets in a very gridlike pattern. We overhear a police dispatcher saying "Reports of a motorcyclist exceeding 120 miles per hour, last seen heading northbound."

An officer responds, "Unit 12 acknowledging Dispatch. Already in pursuit."

We cut to a freeway chase as we see two helmeted lightcycle riders trimmed in glowing red from the Grid, now in the real world, speeding and weaving around freeway traffic. As the police car pursues them, one of the lightcycle riders activates a light trail, which quickly bisects the police car straight down the middle.

Next, we overhear the voice of Ares, who remarks, "I'm looking for something. Something I do not understand."

This is followed by Eve Kim, who is standing in the middle of a street and looking up as the crowd behind her begins to turn and run after seeing something. We then get a glimpse of Gillian Anderson's unnamed character.

Suddenly, a large Recognizer from the Grid is shown moving past a skyscraper window as it begins to go after Eve, who understandably starts running away from it.

Fleeting images of the Grid follow, as we see a program trimmed in natural blue riding a red version of a jet ski along a river. Next, we see three red-trimmed airships heading toward the Grid's communication beam portal that contacts the real world.

Images of red-trimmed soldiers armed with staffs are shown as the electronic score by Nine Inch Nails kicks into overdrive. We see Arturo Castro's unnamed character, followed by one of the soldiers in red trim begin to de-rez. Fighter jets in the real world fire missiles at the Grid airships, only to be easily blocked by the airships' red light trails.

Next, we hear the voice of Kevin Flynn say "Ready?" as Ares is slowly covered in a red-trimmed suit. "'Cause there's no going back."

The last thing we see is Eve looking up at the carnage above her, including the Recognizer, which now has some damage, and the aforementioned aerial combat.

If you'd like to see the Tron: Ares teaser trailer, you can view it below thanks to the official Disney account on YouTube...

Tron: Ares is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 10, 2025.

NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 337: "Galaxy 4" Is Up!

"Women?"
"Yes, feminine. Uh...female."
"Oh, we have a small number of men, as many as we need. The rest we kill. They consume valuable food and fulfill no particular function."
-- Maaga and the First Doctor, Doctor Who: "Galaxy 4"

Hello again, everyone! "It’s hard to come to terms with a violent nature. Hating the power that it has over us."
"I was raised to believe in grace. That we can be touched by the divine and transformed into a better person. So, if you say to me that you’re a new man, I say 'Fine.' But you should know, I was also raised to believe in retribution. So, if you step out of line, I will be there."

NEXT STOP EVERYWHERE 336: "The Bells of Saint John" Is Up!

"This whole world is swimming in wi-fi. We're living in a wi-fi soup! Suppose something got inside it. Suppose there was something living in the wi-fi, harvesting human minds, extracting them. Imagine that. Human souls trapped like flies in the World Wide Web, stuck for ever, crying out for help."
"Isn't that basically Twitter?"
-- The Eleventh Doctor and Clara Oswald, Doctor Who: "The Bells of Saint John"

Hello again, everyone! My partner in time Jesse Jackson and I are back for another new episode of Next Stop Everywhere: The Doctor Who Podcast! This time, we discuss "The Bells of Saint John", the sixth episode from Doctor Who Series 7 in 2013, featuring Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor, Jenna Coleman as Clara Oswald, Celia Imrie as Rosemary Kizlet, and the return of Richard E. Grant as the Great Intelligence!

In this episode, Jesse and I discuss things like Jesse having mixed emotions during the Mavericks/Lakers game, finally getting the premiere date of Doctor Who Series 15/Season 2, annoying internet rumors that Ncuti Gatwa and Russell T Davies have been fired from Doctor Who, Alan Cumming returning to Doctor Who as the voice of Mr. Ring-a-Ding, more on Steven Moffat trying to be too clever with his script, the title "The Bells of Saint John" being a reference to the phone built into the TARDIS' police box disguise, Steven Moffat trying to get kids frightened of wi-fi, the only other time the TARDIS' police box phone has rung, the Doctor not being aware that the Great Intelligence was behind everything, the original plan to have a female voice on the TARDIS phone implore the Doctor to trust Clara and take her with him, the prequel to "The Bells of Saint John", the Eleventh Doctor becoming a monk in 1207 Cumbria, the Summer Falls tie-in book written by James Goss as Amelia Williams, Missy giving Clara the Doctor's phone number so she could call him for tech support, Matt Smith looking better in the purple coat than the tweed jacket, Clara's rushed first time entering the TARDIS, wondering why the Doctor doesn't have access to money when in modern-day London, Rosemary Kizlet as a tragic villain, the Doctor defying gravity with his motorbike, Moffat's fucked-up revelation that Kizlet was taken by the Great Intelligence as a child and wakes up in a much older adult body, our favorite quotes of the story, new listener feedback from Dave Proctor, Holly Mac and Sandi from Oregon, watching the animated reconstruction of "Galaxy 4", the order for watching David Lynch and Mark Frost's Twin Peaks, and more!
